I have a set of original ICE MERP which I'm selling on ebay in Australia.

I know they're worth different amounts based on whether they're a rule book, adventure module etc, but what I'm wondering is whether collectors in the US tend to even visit ebay.com.au and whether I'd be better off listing them on ebay.com?

Also, I have 10 original adventure modules in reasonable to good condition and 13 of the sourcebooks (like Riders of Rohan). What sort of starting price would you recommend?

Edited to add: I should say that I actually am not a collector. The books I'm selling are from my late BIL's estate and some of my husbands stuff which he's not using/keeping any more. I sold a fair bit of stuff last year and suspect my complete lack of knowledge didn't help me. :lol:

I wasn't aware that auctions could be listed to regional versions of ebay. I thought any listing would show up on ebay.com.

If that's not the case, then by all means, put them on ebay.com.

I'd still love some up to date values for the books though - would you say that the Amazon prices are fairly average for this stuff?

Amazon prices are usually ridiculous for ANY books.
Post a list here and we can PM you what we think they might go for.

Amazon is NOT the place to price your items.
E-Bay may not be either, but I would prefer it over amazon any day.

Thanks so much for your time everyone.

All books are original ICE MERP - used but fair to good condition. Any of the books which had the fantastic pull out colour maps are missing them - they had been pulled out and stored separately and were lost in a move.

Books already listed with a starting price of $5.00 (some up to $25 with 2 days still to go, others sitting on the $5 mark with 1 bid). If you want to check out photos - and, heck maybe make an offer :wink:

why not take pics of the ones you HAVENT listed yet, and host them somewhere, then post up something in the classifieds here, with some detail of each item and ask the folk if anyone wants to make offers?

much better that way as you avoid EBAY fees, but clearly not paypal ones....

might be worth it....

Missing maps is a serious value killer.
The ones that usually go for a good chunk out of your list are:

Umbar
Ardor
Pelargir
Riders of Rohan
Sea Lords
DunlandCardolan
Gundabad
Gorgoroth

The rest are a toss-up. Sometimes they go high, sometimes low. But as I said, if the maps are missing, it is usually a pass for a lot of people. If you haven't mentioned the missing maps in the auction, I strongly recommend you do.

I think by default you have to list auctions wherever your Ebay account is registered. With my Canadian address I could only register on Ebay.ca but it stills lets you log into all of the other Ebay sites: Ebay.com, .co.uk, .au, etc. When listing auctions, though if you sell them worldwide or to other countries, Ebay will propogate the listings to the accepted countries.

I usually keep an eye on Ebay.co.uk for UK only sales that do not show up on Ebay.com.

If every auction was worldwide, there would be no reason for eBay to include the worldwide search vector.

Thanks everyone,

I have certainly mentioned the missing maps - in bright red and capitals so there are no misunderstandings. :lol:

I actually logged on this morning to the ones I've already listed and have an Italian bidder, so I guess the listings do appear worldwide. I certainly am happy to send worldwide so it makes sense.

I would have thought that mapless MERP modules are near worthless.

Collectors arent going to be interested: im sure MERP fans can find the pdfs for free online with very little difficulty.

You'd be surprised; I've done pretty well in the past bundling lots of mapless MERP items. I remember selling a set of 7-10 items for about $100 awhile back, all mapless. Either people can get copies of the maps or they just want the items to read.

Yeah, I knew the maplessness was going to be a serious price killer, that's why I wasn't sure of the starting price. At this stage I'm listing for a starting price of $5 for the mapless books and $15 for the books which didn't come with them and so are intact as such.

I sure appreciate all your help with this - in fact I've started browsing the forums; it's interesting!
