Hi guys!
Yes It's a newbie poster here. :roll:

You don't know me but I feel like I know the lot of you already because my husband is regular poster here and I manage to keep up on the hot topics through his account. :twisted:

Anyhooo!

I have a request to paint a model for someone. Usually there is a standard fee PLUS the price of the figure.
Easy enough. But the figure is rather uncommon and desirable. It would be this version of the Ral Partha TSR Raistlin Majere:

Now what do you think would the (ballpark) value be of this guy? I have one unpainted and out of the package. I know packaged goes for more, but that's not an issue here...

Any thoughts on his $$ worth?

Hi SaxonAngel,

That 11-series figure of Raistlin is the Holy Grail to us collector's. Many a night I have awakened screaming the numbers 11-069...

I would put the price for the loose figure at $200 + the cost of the beautiful painting that you do.

How about 01-084 Evil Lord of Litter. I've been trying to get one since 1993. It wasn't available in the UK through Pal Partha, and I haven't ever found one online. Anyone ever seen one of these for real?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I think I've only seen an 11 series character go for over $100 on ebay once. That was the FR character Midnight in the package about 2 years ago.

$200 for a loose 11-069 Raitlin. Insanity? Yes, but insanity at it's finest. Place one on ebay and let the fun begin... 8)

It's an unfortunate fact amongst the miniature painting community that the term "pro-painted" is usually a guarantee of an average to below average amateurish paintjob. A simple search on ebay with this term will bring back primarily crap work. Many of the higher skill level painters that sell on ebay will actually avoid this term in their auctions, though on the rare occasion there are some obviously misinformed exceptions.

One theory is that if you sell on ebay you must be a "pro". :roll:

Another common misinformation are the ones that say they have painted for Game Workshop. It gives the impression that the seller might be one of the studio painters for GW, when he is actually one of the minimum wage employees that shit out crap army jobs for the retail stores, or aka "Red-shirts" as we like to call them.

I often find myself looking at "pro-painted" auctions in hopes of finding a desirable figure for cheap that I can throw in my stripping jar and redo. :D
