I hadn't noticed this before ... sellers are able to choose whether they can block out all questions on their auctions?

I guess I can't get my questions answered "Right here. Right now!" :lol:

This wouldn't happen to be an auction where the seller is suggesting to do a BIN and ask questions on the payment, would it? :wink:

Exactly. It's immediate payment required. It's like "You must purchase first. Then you may ask your question, you insignificant Ebay buyer-insect. However, we'll probably just ignore your question anyways"

I though with these there was still a link but it was at the bottom of the page and you had to scroll down to see it ....

Did you try going to sellers shop page and asking a question there?
If so, then sue that: Copy and paste the listings E-Bay number into that message.

The link that you normally use is the button on the bottom of the posted pic, "Contact Seller" but there is a disclaimer at the bottom that the seller is not answering questions at this time.

If you have a question about the item, then don't buy it.

There is an option for store owners to go "on vacation" I have never used it but I would expect it to cause a message similar to that.

Good point. There is a contact member on their world page, but not from their store.

I just thought it was ridiculous that Ebay would allow a seller to completely block questions on their items. I remember a while back when Ebay had changed the look of that page and you had to either know or hunt to scroll down to click that button "contact seller". But I guess this is a new wrinkle...

You could also go to another item and ask a question via that one: "I'm actually interested in this other item..."

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

Not exactly the same change as when I first created this thread, but just recently I've noticed that on any listing page for an item, "Contact Seller" is no longer available on the right hand side above "Save this Seller". Has anyone else noticed this? (I haven't tried logging into Ebay UK yet, though)

The only workaround is to click the seller's name above that, then choose "contact seller" in there. I thought it would just send a generic message to the seller and that I'd have to call out the specific item number and name (which would be a hassle for sellers that have hundreds or thousands of items), but apparently the message did contain the item name.

Why does ebay feel the need to bury this link now?

eBay wants to cater to corporate sellers who don't want to be contacted, and probably have no way to even know someone has tried. Long gone are the days where eBay was intended to be a sort of internet flea market. Now, it's just fleas in the market.

Or, maybe its not so nefarious.

I just logged into to Ebay UK, Germany and France, and I'm still able to see "Contact Seller" on a listing page over there. So it's just a US thing ... for now :evil:

So I just noticed that Ebay changed their "ask a question" process AGAIN (for US auctions).

Now,
1. you have to click into the seller's name first
2. then "contact seller"
3. then select one of the categories
4. then select "no, I want to contact seller"
5. then "continue" button
6. then type in your question,
7. then type the security code,
8. finally SEND!!!

Its not that complicated for an auction but they did move the link down to the bottom of the page by the questions.

1. click "Ask a question"
2. click "Contact Seller"
3. choose category
4. enter message
5. send.
