I see it is note on this page about the possibility of two different prints of the boxed set:

In checking my previous set to the newly acquired one, I've noticed some differences:

Both back boxes have 1015 and 394-53168-XTSR1200 on the right and the bar code on the left.  Example A has 1015XXX9401 under the bar code while Example B does not.

Also, under the logo on the back Example A has the following 3 lines centred and fully justified:
"ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS, ADVANCED D&D"
"AD&D, WORLD OF GREYHAWK, PRODUCTS OF YOUR"
"IMAGINATION and the TSR logo owned by TSR, Inc."

Example B has the following 3 lines centred but not justified:
"DUNGEONS & DRAGONS, ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS, D&D, AD&D,"
"WORLD OF GREYHAWK and PRODUCTS OF YOUR IMAGINATION are trademarks"
"owned by TSR, Inc.".

Example A also has the "by Gary Gygax" on the front of the box (as noted on the Acaeum webpage".

Will check the books a bit later.  Anyone remember if this has been discussed before but the webpage not updated?

My copy is different.

Same centered lines as your version A.  Same by Gary Gygax in the books and on cover as your version A.

Different back codes though.

Let's call mine version C.

C has the highest price, so it's last.  It shares the most points with A, so I'll guess that's the middle, and B seems to have items that would have been corrected.

So I'd guess the correct order is:

your A
my C

That sticker perhaps was for version A sets still laying around when they decided to raise the price, I'd guess.

i have the A & B copies and i would agree with the analysis of the Historian. the B copy on the front of the box lists Products Of Your Imagination while the A copy has it all in caps. there is text at the bottom of the B box registering the various trademarks. the A box mentions in addition "the TSR logo". and of course the B box does not mention Gary Gygax on the cover while the A box does. all of these discrepancies would seem to support the idea that B came first and then A.
