There were two boxed sets released in '96. I don't know what the other one is, but I have Rod of Seven Parts and does anyone have a list of what's meant to be in the box?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I figured the same thing but the same site shows the publishing date for Return to the Tomb of Horrors to be 1998, not '96.

I remember these coming out just as I was ditching my Planescape campaign. Interested to fing out if anyone actually played them and what they thought.

I ran Rod of Seven Parts in the late '90s with a group of students at a NW university. As I recall it was fun, but the final fight lasted one round due to some incredibly bad rolls by the bad guy and incredibly lucky rolls by the PCs!

I've not run Return to the Tomb of Horrors, but I have a friend who did. The PCs were wiped out when they decided to attack the town full of undead & necromancers! Duh!

The Return to the Tomb of Horrors makes for an interesting read but I don't know if I'd want to run it as written. It's a well made product but the levels required are much higher than what I prefer to run (and a town full of undead and necromancers makes playing any LG paladin types a little suicidal). A reproduction of the original ToH is included (which makes me think most of the mono ToH on ebay have come from this source). The art booklet provided has some spectacular line art that I would like to see in a larger (maybe framed) format.

I flipped through the Rod of Seven Parts and put it back in the box and sold it (not a great resale value for this one). It's definitely a long haul campaign that would require some DM and player dedication to even attempt to finish. The maps are double sided and that combined with the sizing (poster sized but containing many maps on a single sheet) was something that I could point to as being poorly implemented.

I have not reviewed it since I bought it, but I recall the same thing. It might be difficult to actually run. I am pretty sure the mono reprint has an indentifying note on it.
Overall, it is a nicely presented product.

I don't recall ever being impressed by any of the "Return to" items. It smacks of Hollywood's penchant for making sequels to every decent movie just to play on past success. IMHO, more would be accomplished by creating a new scenario.

If you hit a Rowsdower, you get to keep it.
