I share your love of the art.  I recently picked up the cover of 3.5 City of Perils by Ralph Horsely.  I also have a much loved Toni DiTerlizzi Planescape interior.

Actually I am the youngster of the group (with one exception).

We started off with 1e and gradually grew from there, switching as the new editions were released.  

...until 4e, the abomination.

And I will never forgive them for killing off DRAGON magazine.  Digital, online content?  BAH!

How active is this site?

This site is not your typical chat site. The primary concern, or focus, are the D&D/AD&D-related products produced from the start to the death of AD&D (I don't like to call it 1e or first edition because I take the stand that anything produced afterwards are, in general, pieces of shit).



So between fighting...err...debating over what is the true first printing of Palace of the Vampire Queen, we talk about all kinds of crap.



It is, for the most part, a collector's forum. We deal in old stuff that most people threw in the trash because they probably sucked ass but now are rare as hell and have undeserved reputations for being the pinnacle of gaming genius. And we have this strange desire to search out every printing of generic products that nobody cares about...Dang, I just noticed I am missing the third print of the Rogues Gallery...time to search ebay.......................

Tim Kask (the first TSR employee) is here as "Kaskoid".  Bill Owen (Judges Guild) has a thread in the Judges Guild area.  Other famous RPG people pop in from time to time.

Dragonsfoot is much more chaotic than the Acaeum, which is not a bad thing.  DF is more of a D&D/AD&D site for DMs and players to discuss both RPG and non-RPG topics.  Tim and Frank have threads at DF, as does Jim Ward (creator of Metamorphosis Alpha), other old-school RPG personalities, and some people who publish current D&D/AD&D clones.

I must say I'm fairly jazzed at the thought of Frank Mentzer and the like being members here.  Any well known artists as members too perhaps...?

As far as this site being primarily for collectors, I gathered that to some degree by the name of both site and its members' titles.

...and I'm cool with it.  The site I come from has only a small handful of local members endlessly droning on about which system of which game is best for what-- when they arent flaming each other, that is.

Hardly an artistic one in the bunch too, I might add... a real bummer for me.  But this place here is a smorgasbord by comparison.

I do have a collection of original game materials, since I never have thrown anything away or sold it... but I dont consider myself a collector.

However, I do have a sizable collection of metal minis going back to the mid 1970's in some cases.  I estimate around 4000 or so, and I'm an avid painter as well.  

I was considering posting about minis, painting and artistry at some point but I wanted to be sure such topics would be welcome on a site of this type before doing so.
