Poll: Do you like the "Current eBay Auctions" section on item pages?

An experimental new feature -- a link to current eBay auctions for an item now appears at the bottom of various item pages. It's not free advertising, as I've chosen not to show individual auction titles -- just a link to basic eBay search results. While most experienced collectors use tools such as AuctionSieve to find needed items, these links may be an assist to new collectors or casual browsers. The A-, B-, and C-series module pages currently have auction links at the bottom; pending the results of this community poll, the remainder of the site will follow suit (or not...)

Is there an example of this? So far I haven't noticed this feature.

Thats a nice addition, to me. I'm toying with the idea of going back to get some mods, I sold the few I had 2yrs ago...
My ebay searching is usually very hit and miss though, would it be something for the future to add UK auctions?

I'm gonna leave the voting to others as I can't say either way. It's just not something I'm ever likely to use or go looking for.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I think it's a good idea. The need is there for people who use this site for a reference on pricing as it removes some of the additional steps of verifying the price charts (look it up on acaeum, go to ebay, input information, go to completed listings, blah, blah blah) before posting things on ebay or purchasing.

The eBay tool which makes it happen currently doesn't let you combine US and UK auctions into a single link (well, they do, but they impose other restrictions which make it impractical). I'll take a further look and see if there's a way around this.

I would have it pull up auctions and buy it nows. Seems odd to have one of something come up when thirty are available in stores. This is especially odd for some of the items that are common enough that they are under $10 (shipping included) all over the place... and auctions bounce from $2 (+ shipping) to $30 (+ shipping) because people don't know how to use search engines and get bidder fever.

The links are *supposed* to pull up all auctions, buy-it-nows, and store items. In fact, they were doing that a few days ago. I think eBay's search meltdown yesterday is continuing.

A unified (all country) search engine that cuts through Ebays red tape would be a fantastic edition to the site. I dislike having to go to a bunch of different Ebays to do searches.

Can this be done?

It probably could be done, but it's way in excess of my programming capabilities. AuctionSieve, however, *can* do searches like this, though you'll need to set up a different sieve for each eBay location (though you only have to do it once).

Personally, I don't like the feature. But "meh", it's hidden on the bottom of a page and I can just not click on it.

BTW, the Current Auctions section has now been rolled out to all (or mostly all) the item pages. Additionally, *most* of the searches now "geotarget", meaning they'll show you auction results from your country-specific eBay site (based on your IP address; eBay.uk, eBay.ca, and eBay.au are the only ones supported). Enjoy.
