I won a book for $25 which was supposed to ship priority for $12, total $37.

I paypaled immediately and got the book in decent shape quickly, but the guy sent it parcel post for $6.

I sent exactly this:
"Hi, I received the book today. Thanks for the quick shipping. I did notice that I paid $12.00 for priority but that you paid $6.05 for regular parcel post. I was hoping you'd refund the difference."

and I got this:
"gas here is a kiiler sorry man no"

Ok, maybe I degenerated a little after that, so I sent this:
"Really? So's negative feedback for false advertising."

and I left this negative feedback:
"charged $12 for priority, spent $6 for parcel. whines that he needed it for gas."

The guy replies twice:
"negative feedback y"
"look can you change the feedback that was unnecessary I give you positive and you gave me negative that was not very nice, shipping was $12.00 if you didn't want it , why you bid on it you won the book and you got it fast delivery can you please change it to positive"

and responds to my negative feedback with:
"shipping fast u got your book & you're satisfied & U give me a negative rating"

I followed up my feedback with (again, kind of angry now):
"you promise priority but ship parcel AND charge me double. wtf dont u get? idiot"

and sent him this note:
"You're out of your mind. You charged $12.00 for priority but then spent $6.00 and didn't ship it priority. You sent it parcel. I'm not sure on what planet you think you're allowed to charge double for shipping and allowed to promise one method of shipping and arbitrarily choose another. Count yourself lucky I was honest enough to claim I received the package. No way in hell I'm changing that feedback."

and he replies with:
"Send you 6.00 back for SH Fees by paypal can you
changing that feedback"

to which I reply:
"Go ahead and take it back. I'd rather leave the feedback as it is. At first i thought it was an honest mistake. Now i see the world needs a warning about you."

to which he finally replies:
"honest mistake take your $6.00 let's call the day
Just trying to fix the problem that's all I'm trying to do your issue was shipping cost so I fixed it refund your money no more problems, we cool now , so enjoy your book and hopefully you win some things on my page down the road nice talking to you
Have a nice day"

Ok. I get that I'm being a little bitch about this and I probably should have toned down my comments. But out of curiosity, did I handle it incorrectly? Should I give into the guy's whining, take the six bucks and remove the bad feedback?

Lets face it....after all the horror stories on here about similar circumstances, screw him/her/it. Most of us that buy on Ebay look at the feedback AND the DSR's. Atleast this way you've alerted most of us on this guy IF we take the time to do some research before bidding/buying from them.

If a good seller did something like this (shipping by different method by mistake or whatever), they would immediately fix the issue and not whine about gas/boxes/tape/etc. I've had my wife ship something for me and the lady at the post office talked her into shipping it via a different and cheaper method. My wife didn't talk to me about it until I got home so I immediately sent an email to the buyer and refunded the shipping. Needless to say, she doesn't listen to the lady at the post office anymore  :)

I dont think you are being whiny or a little bitch about it at all.  If you paid for Priority mail, the sonuvabitch should have mailed it Priority.  If a seller wants to charge extra for "handling" I dont have a problem with that as long as they are up front about it in the item description.  But if a seller doesnt disclose that they are going to take half of the money I spent on shipping and then ship it using a slower service just so they can buy a case of Pabst, they shouldnt be surprised when I slap them with negative feedback.

In my not so humble opinion, what that seller did might as well be considered theft.  The jerk deserves what he got.

I would let him sweat it a little while longer... then I would change it to Neutral. And I would make it clear that this is ONLY because he refunded the money which is only half of what he did wrong, that it is a matter of being honest and honoring the contract (you paid for and agreed to Priority not Parcel)... His deception, then his attitude about it are why you are giving him neutral.

Tell him to reread the eBay rules about shipping and to get a firm understanding... he will have to pay his penance like every other fucker on eBay.

You can't list one shipping method and then ship another.  It's against ebay's rules.  It's likely postal fraud as well (not that anyone will take action on a $6 case, but still).

Less than great descriptions, poor packaging - these could be legit issues for a new seller, and can be taught without being evil.

But this guy flat out lied.  I have no sympathy for that at all.  Hose him.

Thanks for the notes. Good to see I haven't completely lost it. I'll just stop replying to him now and let him keep his $6.

I prob would have neg'ed him too..
and Offering to pay you back what is rightfully yours in the first place to remove a honest feedback.. now its a def neg..
I would however leave accurate DSR's (whatever they call those little star thing anyway..) so if it was accurate, leave 5 stars for product description etc...

Brette:)

Keep your head on straight, don't let your emotions take over. You knew you were in the right and you still had an Ebay complaint, and a Paypal complaint to up the ante.

If the resources fail you then go apeshit. :D

He can still use your inappropriate language against you in a complaint to ebay and have your neg removed. Stay even keeled.

good point - if you have used the word 'idiot' in feedback it's entirely possible he could get it removed - dependeing on who at ebay deals with it on the given day!

Icar, gyg - seem like obvious points. I should have thought of them when ranting.

That is exactly what happened. However he was only able to get the follow-up comment removed. Not the whole feedback.

Thanks for the advice all.
