2If you could pick one module - one of the TSR jobs - that begs for a sequel, which would it be and why.

Maybe if I get time tonight I will put it poll form, but right now make a choice. I am specifically thinking about the one-shot mods not the series mods.

OK - I added a poll. I know the list could be larger, but let us tackle this group first. I only included the A series because it is the first of the series modules (alpha order).

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

Well, I'm partial to expanding/further-developing S4, of course:  it hints strongly at several additional levels (Underground Lake, Pech Cavern, etc.), and there are the obvious missing treasure hoards, conjuration chambers, living quarters, etc., etc. to run with as well.  Q1 likelwise screams out for more development (alternate primes).

In terms of direct sequels, a higher-level sequel to B1 would be fun (where Roghan and Zelligar [sp?] currently reside, perhaps), as well sequels to C2 (going back to the original location and delving its dungeons), and S2 (although RtWPM did cover some of the Indoctrination Center, IIRC??).

A1-4.  I know that Slavers was the continuation of the story years later but I found it to be a bit lacking in the original "Dungeon Crawl" department.  I was hoping for another round of interesting locations/creatures and all I got was campaign notes that felt like a book outline more than an adventure.

S3.  What happened to the rest of the ship?  I'm sure this would destabilize a long running campaign but I found S3 to be a great experiment in how to keep player knowledge from interfering with character knowledge.  Some survivors capable of using the technology fully would make a great antagonist as they attempt to pacify the savages after waking up from stasis.

Agreed.  B2, I2, X2 and N1 were some of my favorite, one-shot modules.  A sequel to any of them would interest me. 8)

WG4 - Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun.  I always thought there was so much to expand on with the dark form in the Black Cyst and what happened to the mythical gems of Tharizdun.  And when Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil came out it did not come close to meeting my expectations as a true sequel (to WG4 or ToEE).  Now WotC has pretty much turned Tharizdun into an everyday, well known, overexposed evil god when before his name was rarely spoken and even then only by the most learned scholars or mystics.

Have you seen the 4E Dungeon magazine (doesnt seem right calling it a magazine) adventure Iggwilv's Legacy?  They expanded on the original caverns and even introduced Tsojcanth as a demon prince.  I just skimmed through it the other day and it looks like it might be fun to convert to 1E.

The G series modules. I was working on some of these for my own campaign.

The Ruins of Nosnra's Steading

The Ice Wyrms of the Glacial Rift

The Hall of the Salamander King

But returning to these classics years after they were gutted by adventurers always appealed to me.

I actually meant to say B3 instead of B2, not that a sequel to B2 wouldn't interest me, but not as much as B3.  I had a great experience as a player and several times as a DM.  The bad guy, if you remember was a baddie named Arik, nicknamed Arik of the Hundred Eyes or something like that.  It was one of his ruby "eyes" which led to the palace downfall, and another eye could cause a problem somewhere and somehow.  Maybe this time it could be a sapphire or a diamond, or the eye might have Vecna qualities.  Several adventures could lead the party to one confrontation after another as Arik and minions manipulate the party along.

In my old campaign the steading was burned completely to the ground (like many others).
This left access from the surface to the undeground all but impossible.
Although enterprising monsters could find a way in from other areas.
Such as through area 23, where the Carrion Crawlers nest was.
There is a sink hole near the east wall and another at the north end of that large cavern and of course the underground river, collapsed caverns (26 and 27) and another sink hole in area 19 and the blocked passage at area 18.

Plenty of places for future expansion and access....
But I agree with you Jason.

Yes indeed, and the Lost Lament, and the connections/fame of the Forgotten Temple (Tomorast in WG5 has been to it!).  Definitely another good one.  And, given its proximity to the Lost Caverns, I often wonder what Iggwilv knew of of the Temple and its contents?

I have read it, though not recently; I wasn't too impressed at the time, but then I've also got a lot of ideas of what else needs to be developed too.  I should go back and check it out again sometime.  Thanks for the reminder!

Relatedly, Living Greyhawk ran a "Return to the Lost Caverns" set of modules a few years ago, which I also haven't really read; should do that too, while I'm at it.... ;)

Caverns of the Unknown is my working assumption.

I loved the U-series too, one of my all time favourites.

How about some Q-worlds? Remember those portals in the spider queen's maze?

They all do... they whisper to me in my dreams... 'expand upon me... make me whole... fill me full of treasure, traps, and nassssty hobbitsesss with their feet on fire...'

They are evil succubi...

But I think I would like to have seen a genuine 'sequel' to T1, the 'real' T2. In monochrome, of course.

A vote for I1 with a sequel leading to another plane through a portal or to a subterranean fortress.
