While pouring over some records, I came to something I couldn't figure out.

The following 7 products all bear the "Odyssey" logo and title.

1143 Tale of the Comet  

2521 Savage Coast Campaign Book
2522 Savage Coast: Orc's Head
2524 Savage Coast: Monstrous Compendium Appendix

9511 Jakandor, Island of War
9512 Jakandor, Isle of Destiny  
09472 Jakandor, Land of Legend  

Yet, as far as I can tell, there is no commonality.
Comet is about mixing sci-fi technology in (a la S3)
The Savage Coast is the area with 'Red Steel' and cinnabryl
Jakandor is an island where outcast barbarians meet jungle wizards

So...wtf does "Odyssey" stand for?

Hi Mordrin,

the only note that I can add is that the Savage Coast 2E books definitely are the same Savage Coast as in X9 The Savage Coast.

By the way, the front cover from Dungeon 6 should've been used for the front cover of X9 ... much more descriptive and useful (although I find Parkinson's work to be awesome, overall).

If you don't get any replies here, your best bet might be to look at the authors of those titles, and see if you can contact one of them (also, take a look in the credits section : if there is some kind of a Product Manager listed there, in common between the books, if you can track them down, then that might be a help).

I thought Odyssey was meant to be an identifier for mini-campaigns? In other words, ideas that TSR had but didn't want to turn into a full product line.

Yep, I'm with huw. I'm pretty sure it was "mini-settings" that would not be fully supported.

I was hoping maybe for some documentation, but that's what I'm thinking.
