Just as a matter of interest, I'm interested to know what the breakdown of concerned parties is....

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I'm in and voted "No."

For the record, I'd also vote "No" on reducing the number from 50.  I believe I was #3 or so to sign on.  Printing only 5 would make this far more collectible, and I'd still get one, but hey, I'll support the committee's decision to keep it at 50 and leave all of those slow, undeserving bastards who signed up after me but before the list reached 50 to remain in the game.

Thank you, bombadil.

Of course only printing five would mean the cost of your print would be in the neighborhood of $1000.   8)

I also voted no.  It is my hope that for the next print in the series the committee will go for a print run of 75 or more depending on interest.  As always I'm okay with whatever the committee decides.

I am in the 50 and voted NO.
It is not a matter of trying to "protect the value".
The committee has already covered this topic.
I agree that for a first effort at this sort of thing the number should be kept small for the sake of their logistics.
Somebody has to put the effort into packaging and shipping and every escalation of the number means a lot more work.

Much as EO artwork really triggers my nostalgia buds, I am not interested in purchasing the item.  So, I have no personal stake in whether it stays at 50, goes up or goes down - that makes my opinion either impartial or irrelevant, depending upon your point of view :).

I do however think that it is an absolutely genius idea - and just the sort of thing the Acaeum should do.  :D  I remember looking at the original thread, and initially there seemed some  doubt as to whether there would even be enough people to get it off the ground going - so kudos to the original brave volunteers - and doubly so to the people making it happen.

Now however it is going and a lot of interest has been created. I would (and indeed have) voted for an increase.  It seems the generous thing to do - just what a bunch of avid collectors would do.

I am 49/50 and only there because of one of my community brothers gave me a heads up.  That being said, I voted to increase the number.  I went with 75 since I believe we have less than 25 on the waiting list but would be ok with increasing it to however many wants ONE.  By one, I mean one copy per household.

I also understand badmike's admitted selfish reason of not wanting the headache of mailing more than fifty or the potential migraine version when uber collectors don't receive them or are not in perfect condition.  Unfortunately, I would suggest that maybe more than one person be charged with mailing out orders or allowing badmike to back out of his responsibilities without a level loss and pass the "honor" onto some other suck, er volunteer.

I dont understand the purpose of this thread at all.
Aside from the obvious voting part that is.
This topic has been discussed at length in the original thread and the EO committee made its descision about the number of prints that shall be made quite clear several times.

I wanted to find out what ballance of people, in what catagory ('in' or 'out'), considered the increase an objectionable idea. Personally, if it were a case if looking for an invpiece, it'd be more prudent for said investor to commision a private piece. I personally have no issue with increasing the print run, but I was wondering if there were many 'in' who felt the same, and many 'out' who agreed that it should remain at 50.

OK.
I stated on that other thread (early on) that I thought more than 50 copies should be made.

I have not changed my mind, but I am not on the EO committee and the number of copies being made is 50.

If it reduces the cost for each purchase, I would be interested in having more of them available... but, there is also the would it take longer to get done, and would there be issues with it (such as shipping delays, not that Mike is untrustworthy, but things happen... especially dealing with bulk) type questions... so, I'm not sure having more is necessarily better. Though, more people could get one. Really, I see pros and cons for both sides.

I voted no. It is that simple.

I also really question the validity of this poll. The committee made the decision and that is that.

I think it is their decision to make and they made it. No, not everyone is going to like the results, but that is how the cookie crumbles.

All that said, I really don't care if the number is changed. But this fiasco needs to end. A great idea was put forward and people acted on it. Now comes the second-guessing. Sorry, the decision was made, move forward.

There will be a next time.

I'm not in the 50. I voted 100 because I believe providing a cool print for as many Acaeum members as possible would be the right thing to do.

If I were in the 50 I would still vote the same way.

I want one of these because EO is my favorite artist and I would like to be a part of this...

I'm still having a hard time understanding the REAL reasons why the "elite 50" would not want to include at least the 17-20 people that are right on their tails... we are brethren are we not?

...but, there is also the would it take longer to get done...

It wouldn't. it we're talking about offset printing... even silk-screening would only be minimally more work. We're talking about 50-100 copies of something printed using a method designed to make as many as TENS-of-THOUSANDS or more.

This whole attitude is reminding me of my first involvement with the Acaeum where I naively posted an eBay item I wanted asking for advise... I was mistaken then that this is some sort of community that looks out for each other and I guess I am mistaken now.

I'm NOT in the 50 and NOT on the wait list and I voted YES to producing 75 because there are that many Acaeum members who want a print, there has only been one credible reason put forward so far for limiting the run to 50 (that being Mike having to do the posting), but primarily because it's the right thing to do. I've also got a fair degree of confidence that people like Ben and Mike will go ahead and do the right thing. We'll see.

It wouldn't.

OK, well, I wouldn't know as I am not a person who does art printing... books, yes, but not posters or art. And, printing 50 books as opposed to 100 definitely takes less time (at least, the way I have to do it because I am not a publishing house with industrial printers.) So, it was more a question (hence the "would it") than a statement... but, I am sure shipping 100 items takes longer than 50 simply because you have to print out addresses and stamp each one, but that is minuscule.

The 3 that voted "I'm staying out of it. It's WAY TOO politically sensitive for me. " should be beheaded...
