I would suspect that not a single one of those artists could show you all the pieces they have done over the many years.

Sounds to me like an impossible task.

I've long been interested in a project like this (at least in terms of their gaming-related art). I currently think the best place to add this information would be the Acaeum Wiki. That way you could click on, for example, "Bill Willingham", and it would show the Wiki pages for every product that has art in it by him (cover or interior). I think right now the Acaeum Wiki is only has a dedicated field for cover artist of the products. If they could enable a field for interior artists I would start contributing to this. The information could be: Page #, Artist Name, Very Brief description.

On the Acaeum Wiki, we are noting down cover artists for all RPG items, so many of the artists you list have index pages showing items in which they have contributed the cover art. For example:

This may help a little as a reference for you project. Of course these artists have many, many more interior art contributions which we have not scanned or indexed - that would be a massive piece of work!!!

I would agree that this is the best place to start. Just going with a text list of products that the 1E artists contributed to, with their names, and the numbers (page numbers) of the creations.

Some of the art from that period is absolutely amazing, in different ways.

I am sorry, but I have forgotten the name of the artist, but he did some work in the Fiend Folio, and there were these 'Fighting Fantasy' gamebooks that I saw once in the local Value Village. (I still lament the fact that I didn't have the wisdom to pick them up when I saw them).
Unique, totally unique.

Also, some of Jeff Holloway's work. What is in the MMII is sketches compared to what he is capable of! Amazing stuff in some of the Middle Earth gamebooks. Unearthed Arcana, done properly, should have included his original artwork (see Best of Dragon III), for the Demi-Human Deities section.

Parkinson, Caldwell, and Elmore. These are artists coming from a different place than the artistic eidolon of the early TSR artists, but they blow me away regardless. They approach things from a different point of view, perhaps coming from a technical school of painting, but trying to take that school to the limits and beyond. 14-15 hour days. If we had half the discipline and passion of Elmore, who knows what we could accomplish. Heaven and Earth : DL5 and FR5 ... I'm stunned. To be able to echo such a thing, this is a great gift of effort.
