I was just browsing Adrian Newman's TSR archive and noticed a group of second edition items called spell cards. I tried to find the first set on Ebay and was surprised to find no listings (maybe I wasn't searching properly).

Are these sets rare? What do they usually sell for?

I've sold a couple of sets - problem is that shipping is an utter killer!

Definitely one for the completist - game use I always thought they'de be pretty pointless. Basically this huge box of cards saves you bringing a players handbook and a tome of magic to the table - assuming most gamers have their PH surgically attached to them, this means you can either have a handy box of cards to thumb through or a hardback book to thumb through - hmmm, what are you going to do?

As a collector's note, the boxes the various Decks come in are pretty much destroyed unless they're being sold in the original shrink.  They're probably the flimsiest boxes TSR ever manufactured and fell apart immediately upon even the lightest use.
