Moved thread by Ben

Lets make this mean something. Winner gets a Module/Mag (something cheap) from the losers. If one of our international friends wins, I will collect the winnings and forward.
Ben and Plaag can opt out if you want because you jumped before I added the bet.

O.K.  Let's see who gets closest to tonight's score in the "National Championship."

Zero points overall if your picked winning team loses.
Ten points if you guess the correct score per team and one less point for each point you are off in either direction.

For example; if your vote is Oklahoma 38-21 and the actual score is Oklahoma 31-Florida 24 then you get 3 + 7 = 10 points.  You are seven points away from the correct Oklahoma score and three points away from the correct Florida score.  Seven from ten equals three and three from ten equals seven.

Another example; if your vote is Oklahoma 38-21 and the actual score is Oklahoma 38 and Florida 41 you get zero points.  So, picking the winning team is paramount.

My vote?  Florida 31-17

Never opted in, but I miss cheering for the Sooners, having lived in OK for too long.

Wow....I dont think anyone would have thought this game would be tied 7-7 at halftime.  Both defenses are playing spectacularly.  So far though Bradford and the Sooners look just a bit more motivated than the Gators.  Lots of really stupid penalties....I guess they are a bit rusty eh?

Bob Stoops is an idiot for trying to run for the touchdown on 4th down though.  Hasnt he ever heard of a play action pass?  :?

That fourth quarter was possibly the worst quarter of football I have ever seen the Sooners play.  They looked just as good as the Gators in the first half but they came out pretty flat in the second.  Tim Tebow and that triple option play they have is pretty impressive....I dont think the Sooners were able to defend against it all night.

Oh well....didnt really matter to me who won.  :|

Texas would have kicked the crap out of the Gators though.

Shane wins with 13 points.

I came in second with 10 points.

Lucy came in third with 0 points.

SEC makes it three national championships in a row. :D

Um..Lucy would win since we both opted out and only she picked Fla to win.

I tend to do good on these things when I don't bet..because when I do have something on the line I think my mind goes crazy and I'm way out of the ball park.

That's hilarious.  No prizes needed - the Gators won and that's prize enough for me.  I will note that I got the winner and the point spread right, just 20 points higher than was the actual result.  I really thought this would be a high scoring game! My daughter is at school at UF - looking forward to hearing about the celebrations.  Or at least getting a proof of life.  Go Gators!!

That would have been a far more interesting game, in my opinion, but 'grats to the Gators.  I like the way ESPN crowned Utah #1 days before the championship game, though.   :D

I honestly believe that Utah could have beaten both Florida and Oklahoma not to mention Texas if they would have had the chance.

(On the side:  I made over $1000 in bowl bets this year.  A very good year for me.)
