A sad day.

Without "Noggin the Nog" would a whole generation of roleplayers have been born?

Nah, it doesnt specify, tho he was 83.

He created Noggin the Nog (and Nogbad the Bad), Bagpuss, the Clangers, the Pogles and Ivor the Engine.

Noggin has the first Dragon I remember ever seeing on TV.

It's a UK thing...never heard of Oliver Postgate or any of the shows mentioned until this morning.  Interesting legacy!

such childhood memories... grew up with all those programmes and luckily have found most of them available on DVD, so my son is enjoying them this time round...

The shows produced by the BBC have been incredible. Of course some horses ass started filming over old shows back in the 60s destroying some classic shows and episodes. Doctor Who, Dad's Army, The Avengers, gone forever.

Sad day indeed - saw this on BBC news through the night, I had forgotten just how much this chap did - fond memories, though definitely a UK thing!
