Yeah, Noble Knight is the only one I've ever had send me M-bags.

I recall my reaction when I received it from the morning parcel-delivery guy was essentially "Huh. So it really is a bag."

There are also older canvas material M-bags too - although these often seem much dirtier.

The process in how the bags are handled must be different because they do have both Surface and Airmail M-bag.  Airmail M-bag is similar in price to Priority (at least to Canada).

Canvas bags are no longer made - only Nylon (though there are still some canvas ones floating about).

I am pretty sure that Surface M-Bags have gone away since the US Post office changes about a year ago . . . no surface for anything.

The idea of M-Bags is that you don't actually need to package and protect your books in neat little boxes.  You can throw 30 books "loose" in a bag.  Keep in mind that these type of "bags" are what the post office puts your letters in . . . it is sort of their "default" packaging.  If you look, you will see them stuff a sack with dozens and dozens of Priority envelopes until it is full.  Then it is sorted, the sack is tied off and it is ultimately shipped in one of these.  You are in essence giving the post office a finished product - they just have to put your entire sack on a truck and take it to the airport.
