I am very happy to announce that Larry Elmore will be back in the Old Continent again, mere four years after his last presence in Italy. He will be at the Lucca Comics & Games convention again, if I understand correctly to be involved in the cerimonies for Gary's Passing. I happened to find out that someone I occasionally miniature game with was a friend of Larry Elmore that played AD&D with him back in the 1970s.

He still has some art that Larry Elmore drew in those games.

I never broached the subject, but is it legal to sell stuff like that? He never brought it up to me, but I have wondered.

It's entirely legal to sell the piece itself.
However, Larry retains all publication rights.
That's the default legal situation if those rights are not specified.

Unfortunately the English part of the site is not yet visible, but I'll be more than happy to post specific info about mr. Elmore schedule at Lucca here. It would be great having an Euro Acaeum meeting in Lucca (great city, great historical centre, great food... :wink:

). Anyway, I can already say that the convention will be from October 30 to November 2 and the admission price will be 10 euros. Any questions, happy to oblige (please note I am not part of the organizing staff so I have no Official capacity... :wink:

so, the weekend after Spiel in Germany?

And 2 weeks before Spellenspektakel in the Netherlands?

2 of the largest, most established conventions in Europe?

Not really the best time to schedule it, I think, for those outside Italy.

Nonetheless, a very large and significant convention. Remember that Italy, after all, has a very strong role-playing basis, I'd say second only to US and UK. In Lucca, we are used to having regular guests such as John Howe, Ciruelo Cabral, Margaret Weis, Larry Elmore and Joe Dever, plus a lot more who only came once (e.g., Salvatore).

Hi,

I'm not arguing its a not large convention.

And putting it next to Spiel is a good idea in this case, as Larry Elmore comes to Spiel every 2 years, and obviously this year has also decided to call into Lucca as well while he's in Europe.

However, organising something for a week after the biggest games show in the world can also have its downsides, as attendees have to make a choice on which one they would like to go to, as they do not have unlimited money and time.

You are right, but please consider that the Italian language conventions are catered 95% to Italians (as the French ones to French fans and so on) so being near (in time terms) to convention in other European countries is not a big deal. Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you that Tracy and Laura Hickman will be Guests of Honour too

Prepare all that Ravenloft modules :wink:

I was especially amused by the tranalsation of 'leggi' (meaning 'read [more]' in 'laws'). By the way, did you receive my PM?
