Which issue?

I once wrote a letter to the Wall Street Journal defending the (nauseating) Garbage Pail Kids toys on the grounds of freedom of speech, and they printed it.

 

Garbage Pail Kids are awesome.  There's an entire site devoted to them, and another site devoted to my other favorite: Wacky Packages.

My claim to fame?  Being Troll Lord Games' unofficial errata monkey and getting a thank you in the books.

I have a real funny story

As some of you know my wife is quite a well known miniature painter

She has been published many times, won dozens of awards etc.

Anyway one year at Gencon me and a few buddies were racing to paint some minis so we could use them in a legal tournament (The miniatures had to have at least 3 different colors on them); we had about 2 hours to paint 30 miniatures and between three of us we did it.  The minis look like they were speed painting by a 3 year.

Unknown to us, one of the Gencon photographers spotted us and snapped a picture.

The next year there was a picture of us in the miniature section of the Gencon program; the caption of the picture was "Learn to paint like the professionals" or something like that.    OK so we realize it was a mistake, the funny part is we are painting like crap and used in the program to advertize professionals when I am married to a professional mini painter and she was not in the program.

I remember "Sir Bin-Lanced-a-Lot"!  I too entered and won a Grenadier minis contest in their Bulletin to name one of the minis from the Call of Cthulhu Adventurers set. Guy with walking cane and bowler I believe. "Puttinon D'Ritz" was the best my teenage mind could come up with. But it won.  I selected the boxed set of Demons I think had just come out around that time.

Next year I may be able to say the same and also, 'I gamed with the crew, that took on the shrew'!
