I think the only monochrome TSR module I don't own is S2: White Plume Mountain. I own one of the newer printings with the multi-colored cover. I have three questions:

1. What art in the newer printings is NOT in the monochrome cover printings?

2. What art is on the back cover of the monochrome cover printings?

3. Is the color of the cover of the 1979 monochrome prints really as different from the color of the 1999 Silver Anniversary Collector's Edition as indicated on the images on acaeum.com ( http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/modpages/s.html )?

I don't know what the 1979 print looks like but that is definitely the 1999 print.

They are different in color but that commonly occurred when there were different printings of any of the modules.

IIRC, there's no missing artwork in the color S2, except for the back cover (posted above by Plaag). It's a shame they didn't include this piece because it's very evocative & features the same characters as several of the other Otus interior pieces. I believe there's no textual differences between the mono & color S2's (I did compare them once), just a lot of extra artwork in the color version. The mono lists only Otus, Sutherland and Darlene with artwork credits. The color adds a number of Roslof pieces and some by Dee and DSL and the extremely cool Otus exterior map.

Wizards.com posted a bunch of scans of S2 artwork. They show the cover of the mono, but there's some artwork that's only from the color version:

(the color interior map is not from either)
