OK, I have kind of an odd question. I just bought a PHB at Half-Price Books, a third printing for US$8.00. It's in mint condition, so mint, in fact, that the spine made crackling noises as I opened it. It looks like it's never been used, but it's definitely a 3rd printing (says "3rd," orange endpapers, etc.).

So my question is, they didn't issue a anniversary edition or anything later, did they? I just have trouble believing that a printing this old could be in this good of shape. Thanks.

You do get lucky sometimes. Somewhere out there, there are copies of old sourcebooks that have been bought by people and stuck on a book shelf to be forgotten about. We just need to sniff them out

Half Price books is located mostly in Texas (something like 30+ stores) but in recent years has branched out into Washington, Ohio, Indiana, and Missouri among other states...there are even some stores in Pennsylvania I think. However, HPB is only as good as the people selling to them...usually the gaming sections are better in suburban locales or those near colleges.

I've also found used gaming stuff at independent used bookstores, so HPB isn't the only source.
