Guys;

A few years ago I met up with Acaeum members Aneoth and Kingofpain for the first of it's kind face to face Acaeum meeting of North Texas members.  In late 2006 we had another meeting, this time adding a few other members  to the festivities. Anyway it's great to get together and talk shop with fellow collectors and meet some guys who you might never otherwise actually come into contact with.

Well Kingofpain just sent me a very, very cool event happening in north Texas (Grapevine to be exact) next month, and it struck us that it might be a good occasion and excuse to meet up again.....

The Texas Pinball convention/festival is meeting March 14th/15th at a hotel near Grapevine Mills mall. I just checked out the website and it the event looks damn cool!  You can play video and arcade games all day, including classic pinball machines, for a mere $15.  So we thought it might be neat to meet up before hand at one of the many local restaurants surrounding Grapevine Mills as a group, eat and talk (if you insist I'll go bacon cheesburger for breakfast), go to the Pinball festival and waste time playing the games for a few hours, then maybe have lunch or catch a dinner later. Hell the exhibition room is open until 1 am so who knows you might have to pry me off an old Bally machine to make me go home......

King and I are going to make plans to go...any Acaeum members in the North Texas area (or anywhere within drivng distance) are welcome to join us.  Just post here or PM so we can get a count, then we'll figure out a place to meet that Saturday morning.  I don't see it on the list of free machines, but maybe someone can score the ultimate D&D collectible there, the Dungeons & Dragons pinball machine!!!

Of note, there are seasonal auctions in Mesquite where you can play arcade games and pinball machines for free. Typically, there's about 20 working pinballs and about a hundred arcade games.

What are these electro-mechanical boxes?  People are standing up to play them; are they like a Wii?  

Put me down for Saturday.  I've never been to one of these pinball gatherings.  Are we going to try and hit the morning vendor show?

i used to have the high score on the twilight zone pinball machine at space needle in seattle! all time best pinball game IMO. as i recall creature from the black lagoon is quite good too!

The Twilight Zone pin is awesome.  I have fond memories of playing pins in the mid-70s and even early 80s.  The 90s were depressing as pinball companies died left and right and as home video game systems killed the arcades.

I am no good at playing pins, but maybe I can find one that is feeling generous.

I'm going to scout out the area Wed and find a good place to have breakfast.  I figure we can meet there about 9 am. The place opens at 10 am so we'll have plenty of time to eat, bullshit, and head over to the hotel. Plus we don't want to be the first ones in....it's not like we're pinball geeks, we're D&D geeks.
