I have the Basic D&D set (12-14th edition, red box, two booklets).  What differences are there between the following sets:

1.   Original Basic (red dragon on cover, monochrome blue booklet)
2.   Revised Basic (Female Magic User on cover, single booklet and module)
3.   Revised Basic (as above which I have)

I understand the number of booklets, number of pages, illustrations on covers, etc.  I am interested in what the actual rule changes were.  Can anyone point me to a summary of how the rules evolved (if they did) through these editions?

I am also interested in the same thing for the expert set.

The 1977 blue book used 1d6 for all weapons damage [as per the Original Collector's Edition], while the 1981 red book used 1d4+2 etc. [as per OCE's Supplement I, Greyhawk].

Overall content stayed pretty similar the the OCE, including stuff like castle construction, all the way to the 90s Rules Cyclopedia.
