Howdy all -

I have some good news - after visiting the doctor yesterday for confirmation, it appears the wife has managed to somehow get pregnant. Details on the cause are vague, but the upshot is she is due to give birth in early June next year. This will be our first, so we're feeling pretty pleased (and somewhat nervous).

The bad news (for me) is that apparently when you have a baby, you need all sorts of accoutrements and apparatus, none of which I have. Who knew I would someday need prams, cots, 2000 nappies and about 3 A4 pages of other stuff? It never crossed my mind to acquire any of it.

More good news (for all of you) is that to pay for it all, I've decided to sell off a large chunk of my collection. Don't get too excited, as I don't have much in the way of the rares. But I do have a number of the uncommon and the unusual, so there should be some stuff to interest most collectors - who, unlike me, have spare cash to spend on luxury items.

Help feed and clothe my progeny! I'm too lazy to list it all at once, but I figure I have at least six months to sell the stuff so I'll probably have 20-30 items up each week between now and then. I'll try and include at least one unusual item each week mixed in with the commonplace - this week it's the first 8 issues of Dungeoneer, which you don't see every day.

(Although I'll list close to 90% of what I have on ebay, I will keep some stuff for myself - I'll need it to make sure the tyke grows up a gamer in his or her old man's footsteps).

Congrats to Mike and Bill.  I have three and our oldest (9 years old) just joined me and the wife in a Settlers of Catan Marathon on the weekend.

I'm proud to announce that we found out last week that Baby Grohe #2 will be our second boy, and things continue to look happy/healthy for him (still due 3 April 2008).  Ethan's quite excited to be a big brother, and can't wait to share his Star Wars toys, swords, stuff animals, and such

Wow congrats, to all of you. Now I am going to put an END to this. Look my oldest is almost 19 and the youngest is going on 5 and I swear if for some mysterious reason beyond the laws of nature, which would have to occure for it to happen. If because of all of this fertility talk on the forum I find out we are having anything other then a NEW Lab puppy, or other critter that the children are getting. I will have to curse this whole forum.



Sorry everyone the 5 year old was a surprise and well at my age I cant handle too many of them.  

But congrats to those who are exepcting. And please stop this from happening to others who are preparing for the grandchildren, but not for a couple more years there either.

I think the other people will back me on this: Don't get into the mindset where you buy all the idiotic kid stuff that you THINK you need. When you first start out, you boil everything, use boxes of sanitizing wipes every day, change diapers whether or not they crapped, use bottle liners, etc. You'll soon find out that stuff like that is not only expensive, but largely useless. Baby monitors? Believe me, if the kid wants you at 2 AM, you don't need a monitor. You'll be informed of its displeasure, and a monitor will just amplify the wailing to the Nth degree and aggravate the piss out of you.
Sterilizing? By the time you have your third kid, they'll drop their bacon on the floor and you'll pick it up, wipe it off on your pants and hand it back to them.
