Their auctions look just like fencert's, and having already been ripped off by him for a set of Gamelord's Traveller books, I'm not too thrilled about having that happen again. -Tom       aka tntwargo

I am pretty sure that HelenandTerry is Fencert.

I suggest that you contact Terry/Fencert and try to correct whatever went wrong with your last purchase.

Terry is known to make mistakes but he is also well known for fixing them at his own expense.

I presume that you contacted him before...but that you should try again.

I would suggest going directly through Terry and skipping the ebay part.  It's much easier IMO for Fencert to just gather up the items from his stock that you want, that way you both can be sure he has the items in stock, and you may even get a better deal. I've never gotten exactly what I won through his auctions; it's much simpler just to order directly as I suspect he uses a lot of stock photos and descriptions and the auctions are inaccurate.

I was RIPPED OFF by fencert two holiday seasons ago. When the order was not forthcoming, I waited a little longer to account for slow holiday mail. When I contacted him he shot back a few days later, saying the order just came back to him all trashed by the PO, and he was going to send another set. Nothing. After a couple of email exchanges, the time for leaving feedback expired and that was the last I heard from fencert. Now, you can call it what you want, but I did not come in on the 0400-0800 watch. I started emailing people who were bidding on his auctions telling them of my experience, but on the second time eBay put the kibosh on that. I considered taking eBay to court for violating my 1st amendment rights but just decided it wasn't worth it. He's obviously careful about the Acaeum regulars and rightfully so. Since my original question about there being a connection between the two has been answered, I'm grateful. But screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, well, you won't get the chance. My bad experiences on eBay I can count on 3 fingers, but he is a rip off artist beyond any doubt. Maybe he's changed, but I'm not throwing good money after bad just to find out. Too bad he's cornered the market on the Gamelord books and JG's Traveller stuff, but I'd rather do without.

I don't doubt that you didn't get your item, TNT, but in defense of Fencert . . .

Fencert's bricks-and-mortar retail store closed a few years back, and I've heard that his house is extremely disorganized.  I believe that I bought his sheet-metal shelves, which he should have saved for home.   :D

Consistently replying to e-mail is also not his forte. I was going to pick up an item to save on shipping but ended up having the book mailed because he stopped replying.  He didn't make any money from shipping, so profit wasn't his motive.

Fencert's not an intentional rip-off artist.  He just messes up transactions with no artistry involved . . .

I think I might have got screwed by this seller. I purchased a "buy it now" but the auction was misleading, to say the least, with a photo depicting items not in the lot (and no mention to the contrary), hoping, and very glad, to get a copy of Dark Tower for a mere $16 with extra stuff... perhaps some of you have had a good experience, and I am waiting to see what comes of this, but at the moment, I am not a happy camper, and when that happens, people meet Vorhees.

I'm sorry, incompetence is no defense, whatsoever. If you can't run a business right you should get out. That was certainly the line I saw here relating to Titan Games, how come you don't apply the same standard? And I'd call $70+ of mine, without anything from him, pure profit. There is absolutely NO excuse for it. You want to keep defending him, that is your right. But it is also my right to speak about my experience and people can make up their own minds. Even if he had a 1st print woodgrain for a BIN of a penny, I would not touch it. -Tom

Fencert hasn't sold a Dark Tower in the last two years that I am aware of, if ever, so its likely a fiffernt seller Serl.

Moving on, as mentioned by others here he for whatever reason can be extremely unorganized, but he is not a scammer.  I have dealt with him more than a few times and although there was a small issue or two, he always fixed whatever was wrong, always.  Not once did I ever even mention that I posted to this site, so I seriously doubt that was his motivation for fixing the issue.........

Well, its some of my fault, too. I mean, I should have read the description more carefully, but I will say the picture should be of the actual items in the auction... because it leaves the taste of intentional deception (ie, fraud,) whether warranted or not. I'll wait to hear what the response was to my message to the seller, but I do hope it turns out for the best, for both. If I don't get a Dark Tower (which was the only reason I wanted the lot, to be honest), then maybe something can be arranged. Anyway... I have faith that it can turn to a good end, for now.

Don't you think you are acting a bit touchy? I mean I understand that you feel he screwed you and thats fine, but I don't know why you are getting so defensive.  I have yet to see anyone here on here vehemently defending him, just some people pointing out the facts of the case which happens to be that he's unorganized, period.  I have yet to see anyone else say much of anyhting else other to try get you to contact him again(since no one was aware it was over 2 years ago).  To be honest, even though it was over 2 years ago, he still might refund your  money if you still have the correspondance you sent him from before, but whatever.

Bclarkie, I respect you, but come on. As I related, as soon as it was too late to post feedback, he quit stalling, and stopped replying altogether to my emails. That is a deliberate scam, not just one of those things that happen. And I wasn't nasty or anything. I just wanted my items that I paid for. Once the threat of negative feedback was gone he had zero incentive to take care of me. And it appears others are starting to speak out after seeing my post. As I said, defend him if you want to, but I have no doubt where he's coming from. And I will continue to speak about this. -Tom

Bclarkie, you are on the evaluation board. Do you really think he doesn't know THAT? -Tom

Welp, I'm a dumbass. Thanks bclarkie for pointing out to me I'm just dumb. No problem at all, now, but I feel stupid and have to find a way to apologize to the seller... somehow.

Again, I am not defending anything. :?   To be honest when you first posted this, I pretty much said to myself, "Here we go again".  The reason I  felt that way is because what happened to you, happens to often.  Do a forum search here on "fencert" and you will see on at least a few other occasions people have checked in here looking for help because of problems with him.  He is extremly unorganized and very likely quite lazy when it comes to his Ebay dealings.

Howver, I am fairly certain though that you are looking far too deeply into his actions towards you and I say that with the utmost confidence.  To give you an example of why I feel that way is something that happened to me when I bought something from him about 18 months ago, here goes:

Back the I had purchased some JG items from him in several lots looking to fill some holes that I still had.  Everything I bought came in a timely fashion and without issue in this instance.  However, about a week to 10 days later, I received another package in the mail from him.  This one however contained something I didn't order and something I obviously didn't pay for.  It was 4 braqnd new sets of Munchkin CCG game cards that he was selling in his store at the time for $49.00 plus shipping.  I knew he obviously made a mistake, so I sent him an email letting him now he inadvertantly sent me these cards and asking how I should handle it(I offered to return them to him or I offered to just forward them to his buyer on his behalf), to which I receive no response.  About 4 or 5 days later, I shot him off another email again letting him know that I received the cards in erro and asking what I should do.  Again, after several days I received no response, so I sent him a third email.  After about a week past without a response to my 3rd email, I finally just gave up.  Since I didn't want them and I had no way of getting them back to him(I didn't think at the time I needed to keep the box he shipped them in to return them, I mean sh*t I had $50 of his money, he would certaily be giving me instructions to me give it back to him, right? I guess not... :?), I ended up dumping them back on Ebay a few months later.   The fact is if he was really a scammer, there is no doubt in my mind that he would have insisted that I at least return them to him in the mail, but he never even bothered to acknoledge my emails.  Thats just the way he is.

Again, thats not an excuse nor is it a defense, it mearly the facts.  :)
