Creepy Ebay Buyers?

Im mainly a buyer on ebay but every so often I will auction off stuff I dont want anymore. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had to deal with buyers who insist on contacting you long after the auctions to ask inane irrelavent weird questions like what you like to do in your free time or where you have lived before? One person even sent me a phonecard and asked to call sometime to chat. I have no problem answering questions that pertain to the auction specifics but I dont use ebay to make friends, its strictly buisness. Am I the only one who has experienced this? Im just perplexed.

That's unusual. If I'm in the same city as the buyer then sometimes we'll meet up (on the sale) or possibly connect at a later time for gaming or whatever reason. In any case, nothing out of the blue such as what you describe.

At first glance, that sounds creepy. Maybe he wants to play D&D, or maybe he wants a friend, or maybe he wants to, uh, hook up in that way. If you don't know his motives by now, stay the hell away. Better safe than sorry.

Carrying this to crazy, out-of-proportion possibilities . . . he might want to borrow money, steal your identity, or involve you in a criminal activity on eBay or Real Life.

He's probably harmless . . . but a little odd.

Never experienced that. As Gaunt says, probably harmless but I'd stay the hell away.

Probably just trying to be friendly...and maybe he's looking for someone who shares his gaming interest.

If he bothers you, just tell him you don't like him that way.

But hey....how creepy is he compared to the "Whoops I'm butt naked" feedback guy?

Crazy feedback is one thing; making contact is another.

eBay exists for selling and buying stuff; social networking sites exist for making contact with people.

Fuck people. I hate most everyone, generally speaking.
The thing about eBay is that you have indirect contact with people from a million different cultures, countries and frames of mind. It helps to remember that.

If you hit a Rowsdower, you get to keep it.

There was a discussion strand a few weeks ago about a guy who leaves bizarre and humorous feedback, like:

"I'm exploring the dungeon with my +2 dagger of butt naked."

Most of his feeback comments end with "Whoops, I'm butt naked!"
