I stopped going since Covid due to life just taking over...So this is my first year back since then. Really miss it and looking forward to it.

This is great news!!  :)

NTX 2025 was amazing!  My son Joshua and I had a blast!  This post is an attempt to recap some of the highlights.  Our flight went great, and we arrived on Wednesday to the hotel about 4pm.  Joshua and I had staff responsibilities setting out all the game information sheets.  We took a brief break to eat some Papa Johns pizza wings(tasted good, but were some of the smallest wings ever).  Then we joined Tetramorph's (Nathan's) game, the Knights & Knaves: Faewilds Con Campaign.  Tetramorph was kind enough to add Joshua into the game.  Our party was tasked with delivering some message, and the best way to accomplish that was a shortcut through a tunnel with numerous traps and trick passageways.  We ended up making it through and getting greatly rewarded.


Thursday was a busy day for me as I had three games.  My son and I ended up playing in Raggi's game, Into The Deep: The Howling Darkness.  We were tasked with helping a town that had several of its residents attacked by these clawed creatures which had emerged from a newly developed cave nearby.  There were lots of weird monsters and strange encounters.  All but one of the party ended up dying.  I had to get naked in order to pay a toll to cross a lake of blood.  We had a great time.


Thursday afternoon I played in Jeff Dee's game, Prince Robek's Tomb.  Jeff had developed his own gaming system that wasn't awful, but I didn't like it.  I can't even remember what we did exactly.  I remember I rolled pretty good.  There were only three other players in the game besides me not including the DM.


Thursday night was the Knights & Knaves: Social.  Tetramorph again did a great job running the game even though there was significant cross talk and some friends of the group who had their own little conversation going on making it hard to hear.  Joshua played a fighter I think, and I played a magic user.  We ended up fighting an avatar of Orcus and some high-level priests.  Here's a shot during the melee.

Friday afternoon Joshua and I played in Chris Clarke's game, Artifact. It was a space game.  I'd never played in any of Chris' games or played in a space RPG!  We were tasked with checking out a mysterious dome on the surface of Mars that no one knew anything about.  We had a hard time breaking in for starters, and my character almost died trying to enter as we were welcomed by automatic lasers.  We ran into security robots, an ancient security system, and a malicious AI system.  Turns out that this was a secret dome set up to sell to warring nations and planets as they had found some ancient technology (think Terminator arm which led to SkyNet).  We had to make a ton of skill checks for this and that.  It was okay.


Friday night we played in Jeff Talanian's game, HYPERBOREA: The Cursed Amphora.  Our adventuring party was tasked with finding some mysterious green gem stuff, and ended up solving a town mystery/tragedy.  Everyone worked together, and rolled good enough to even rescue a damsel in distress from a vicious werewolf.  It was Joshua's favorite game of the con.


Saturday morning we played in Allan Hammack's, Boot Hill: The Hassenfeld Brothers Gunfight.  Allan obviously wrote the adventure when he was particularly ticked at WOTC.  We got into a gun fight almost immediately, fighting gunmen and lawyers and CEO's and such.  Only three of the eight of us who started made it to the end.  I was fortunate enough to survive, but it was mostly luck.


Saturday evening I played in Steve Winter's game, The Doom that Came to Lyros.  This was my favorite game of the con.  We were enjoying life in a town when all hell breaks loose as a mysterious killing fog enters the town.  We had to figure out what was going on quick!  The DM had given each player several clues and information cards we were to use to advance the plot and make things interesting.  We learned that the likeliest source of the problem was below the magic user academy.  We found a secret entrance to catacombs and explored around finding two altars and avatars of troublesome demigods.  We then had to destroy them to rescue the town, which we did.  What made our success particularly satisfying is that Steve Winter had run the identical dungeon the day before, and the party did not succeed resulting in the obliteration of the town.


Sunday morning Joshua and I played in Steve Winter's Gamma World game, The Dept. of Rods and Bridgets.  We were instructed by Professor Monkey to supervise the repair of a major road that spanned the kingdom.  We ran into all kinds of trouble, but eventually succeeded in seeing the road completed.


The con had a number of interesting games and moments for me.  Here's a wild game setup and DM is in costume!  The game was called, Hookers, Hobos, and Hockey Hooligans!


There was a game that had a Temple of Elemental Evil setup with Dwarven Forge stuff.

The food was good enough.  I loved my brisket.

It was a record crowd, and all indications are that it was a super successful con.  It's a highlight of the year for me.  I love working with this staff!
