Hi all some quick questions on this module.  Strangely enough with my entire collection I never picked up a nice copy of this module, but want to.  I played T1 in my youth but never this series.

So question is I am trying to find a really nice copy on eBay but it is confusing as I’m not sure which are originals and which are reprints.  Some reprints are clearly obvious as they are for different editions, but I was unsure if they ever did AD&D reprints of the original?  For instance this looks like a beautiful copy.

Hopefully that link works.  For the first time collecting I am having a bit of trouble telling originals from reprints.  1st-5th is easy as has the grey surround, but the pics for 6th and 7th prints are tough to tell what you are looking at.  The pics aren’t the clearest.  Is the link I included a 6th or 7th print?  Thanks for any light you could shed on this.

Ahh I think I may have just answered my own question.  I see this one doesn’t have the gold TSR stamp on the front, so it must be a reprint.  This one is confusing!  I’ll continue my hunt for a nice REAL original.

I don't think there is any difference in the content, if that matters.

If you hit a Rowsdower, you get to keep it.

Good to know the content is the same.  I would imagine though from a collectors standpoint those copies are worthless right?  Odd they did an AD&D reprint as would think it wouldn’t sell.  I can understand reprints in new additions because you can actually use them.

The biggest difference is that the maps are printed within the book vs being a separate map booklet with the original versions.  This can make using the maps very difficult.

So the reprint edition meant for everyday use is not as serviceable & practical as the fragile, vintage collectible? I'm afraid they've got your balls clenched tight in what's known as a "consumerist double-bind." You get one, it makes you realize you've got to buy the other. It's worked for that potato-chip company for many years.
