I sell rpg's like many of us on the Acaeum, but today I was in for a shock.  I went to ship my orders from the weekend on the Ebay shipping program as usual and it would not allow me to select media mail as a shipping method.   It says that the toys and hobbies category is restricted from using Media mail.   I am currently on hold with seller support to try and find an answer.  If I am forced to ship priority, that could be a serious damper on my business as well as a big increase in cost for buyers.

I've definitely noticed an uptick in shipping quotes on eBay recently, I wonder if this is why?

I ran into the same issue today well today. I wound up purchasing shipping directly from the post office so that I could ship media mail. Certainly not something I’m willing to do for every sale.

Please post what they tell you and thank you for reaching out to them.

I wonder if listing rpg materials in “books” as an additional category will unlock media mail as an option.   Would have to increase shipping to account for the additional category, but it might work.

I remember when Elf was a class.

Update:  The customer service rep told me to add a second category, books on all of my listings.  Luckily, I don't have a ton of listings on Ebay now, so it was not much of an added cost or time spent.  My friend the gaming fool has over 2000 listings and he updated them all.

Guess what, it did not work.  Media mail is still not an option.  Yesterday I ended up cutting and pasting all of my orders to paypal and printing the labels there.  It took some time, but it was worth it as priority/ups through Ebay would have been hundreds more.

I have heard that Pirate Ship will allow you to export orders from ebay and ship through them, I have not tried this yet.  Let me know if anyone else has any ideas.

Would changing your category to Books & Magazines > Books hurt your business?  I don't know how many people shop by category.  I shop by search results personally.  I'm guessing you could ship Media that way.
