The new TSR Games clarify position as key names appeared to distance themselves

Apologies for the links poor quality of writing, but this surfaced this morning. However James Ward has already said, no idea what this is, effectively.

Towards the end of the article, James Ward clarifies that he is publishing his game under the new TSR label. In any case, the OSR space is nothing new, and maybe the TSR brand will bring more people to the table, but unless they have something unique and interesting, I don't see this venture as anything too significant. The legal issues only make it less likely to be successful.

Seems like a dogshit cash grab. Like Christopher Tolkein before him, the hack-of-a-creator son is trying to rebottle lightning.

and will fail.

For whatever Christopher Tolkien's faults were, a desire to rebottle lighting and engage in a cash grab would not seem to be two of them. To use more recently developed jargon he might have been a "gatekeeper" but it seems to me he was not motivated by sales figures.

I haven't watched much of this - but what I have seen is pretty weird.  8O

Hasn't Ernie got a track record of failed cash grabs on the back of his surname?
One wonders what Luke has to say on the matter.

Luke is taking great pains to distance himself, as he should do.

Reading some of the social media posts about all this though, seems to be descending into a gender neutral battle and even just seen a comment that being a Dungeon Master isn’t acceptable anymore due to its controlling connotation and the lack of dungeons now in the game. Sorry, it’s not a game either…

Excuse my wording but get to f*ck!

Unless he says otherwise. Don't believe him.

To be fair, anything posted on Twitter instantly turns into a pile of dog poo.  So called "Social media" in general brings out the worst in the worst people, but Twitter is like a concentrated nexus for online stupidity and awfulness.  The inmates took over that asylum long ago.

I'm supportive of the spirit of the endeavor, it's a nice idea on paper.  But I agree with the others who say that even trying to take back that particular lightning rod of a company name, with all its storied history and baggage, is just going to be a soul draining legal, cultural and financial black hole.

Why take up that heavy mantle?  Avoid a lot of trouble and find another name for your new company so I can keep my fond memories of the old TSR that brought me so much joy in my wasted youth.

Thankfully I closed all my social media at least 6 years ago. Whilst it had its place reconnecting with old friends or family members across the world, the negatives far outweighed any positives.

The toe dip back in reading the insane drivel relating to the TSR relaunch just made me distance myself even further from what I now see as anti-social media.

Isn't that why they call people who use Twitter, 'twits'?

There's a pile of dog poo on Facebook right now regarding all of this....   :eye:

They have two choices....
1.    Get woke.
2.    Find someone with a spinal column to tell the wokers to FO.

Sorry, there is a third option. They could do nothing and just piss thousands of USD up the wall until they run out of money and then manufacture bleeding heart stories about how badly they were treated by vindictive critics with a woke agenda, and how ill equipped they are to manage a company in the real world.
