This is certainly welcome news, but more for file-sharing than anything else.  Bandwidth should not be a concern when sniping.



A snipe, manual or otherwise, does not utilize significant bandwidth.  The packets probably don't even fill a Windows default TCP window, but if you're concerned about efficient bandwidth usage, you could try increasing your "TCP window size" (google for how to do this).  It's a good idea anyway, and if you're afraid of the registry, there are decent programs that will do it for you.



On my lowly phone line, the packets take approximately 79 milliseconds to reach Electronics, Cars, Fashion, Collectibles, Coupons and More Online Shopping | eBay.  (Electronics, Cars, Fashion, Collectibles, Coupons and More Online Shopping | eBay doesn't seem to respond to ping requests).  Average ping: 158ms round-trip, divide by two.  DSL latency is generally even better.



So unless you're very, very far away, it takes longer for your finger to hit the mouse button than it does for the packet to get from your machine to eBay.



Turning off your anti-virus/firewall/spyware/all other apps just prior to sniping will ensure your CPU and network connection are as free as possible to process the request.  On their end, well, there's not much you can do.  :wink:



Since you asked about bandwidth, I can't resist bragging just a little.  At work, my bandwidth is 1 Gbps, and my latency to Electronics, Cars, Fashion, Collectibles, Coupons and More Online Shopping | eBay is a staggering 0.39 ms.  :)
