With the most recent copy of Character Archaic that was sold by Jeff, I decided to dig out my copy to see the condition and if it was complete since I bought it a long time ago. One thing that caught my eye is that it has every sheet listed by Acaeum as noted below, but mine has 25-character sheets, not 20. Is that possible some came with more or are these photocopies added later? All pages look very old and the same other than different colors, so I am not sure. Anyone know if its possible that some of these copies came with 25 character sheets?

Description here on Acaeum: The first publicly-available character sheets.  Red cover, featuring cover art by Morno.  Contains 24 pages, consisting of 20 character sheets, a dungeon map (labeled "The Wizard's Tomb"), a creature encounter sheet, a character roll call, and a combat matrix reference.  Three-hole-punched and bound with metal fasteners.

I've never owned this item but curious to. Had a question.

Without a pic of the back, not able to determine if it unbound before. If you can tell.

Your options are likely to be (obviously):

1 Sheets added after purchase
2 End of Day product - end of a stack, inattention on the count, etc. For some reason 5 sheets were added during the making, and it's just an oddball.

Look at all of the sheets to see if they are exact in every way. Size, hole punch placement, location of graphic on page.
In the printing process you can have plenty of hiccups that are natural. But if there are difference, it's also likely to have additions (especially if you find exactly 5 sheets are slightly different)

If you can tell the clasps have never been undone, or they had definitely been undone you'd at least know that.
It could be hard to tell, depending on how carefully it was done before.
A lot of comic dealers can tell if a staple has been messed with because it's hard to bend it back like it had only been bent once. Similar issue here, but for a different purpose.

Hope this helps. Fingers crossed

Adding to Mister Yuk's commentary.

The number of sheets included in Wee Warriors products has been known to vary a bit.  This is more than likely due to an imperfect assembly/verification process.  Wee Warriors products were sometimes distributed with pages missing or extra pages included.  The fact that you have more sheets than indicated is a good thing.  How man do you have of each?  Is the paper a similar weight/texture, same dimensions on the sheets and holes, ink vs. photocopy?

If you bought this item used, it's also possible that someone added the photocopied sheets later, since you mentioned that the paper is different between some of the sheets.  They could have also been added from two different print runs during assembly.

Thanks for the reply.

The sheets are identical other than there are multiple colored paper. Several of the pastel Green, Yellow, and light orange. The holes, placement, ink, etc. look identical. The folding pins are not tamplered with (or at least look like they havent been). I cannot tell a difference between any of the sheets printing, placement of the copy, etc.

This is helpful and thanks for the information.

This is right I think. They are from the very early days of the hobby and many of these items were home brewed / hand-assembled with little thought to consistency. ... I will dig out mine to have a look, but I seem to recall that it also varied somewhat.

From Doug's conversations with Peter Kerestan, quality control was not something in huge evidence during the days of Wee Warriors. Many variations appear between versions of, say, POTVQ because parts of one printing were often used on the next, "Frankensteining" was quite rampant. Not a surprise then that not every single copy of Arachaic has the exact same number of pages.

This looks like good information which could, perhaps, be added to the entry on the Character Archaic in the main section. I have checked, and mine is 24 character sheets (not 20) plus the other sheets (the one I have came from a small games store in Long Beach CA).

Their mail order catalog  states 30 sheets.
