i. This would be better placed on the Classified section.
ii. The link is live but there are no listings viewable for your profile here in the UK at the end of the link.
Good luck with listings.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

First time poster named after his shopfront posting on the forum instead of the classifieds with no preamble other than 'buy from me'. Could be an under educated staff member in a games shop who doesn't know any better just doing what his boss told him to. Who knows, but it looks like its just spamming from someone.

Even though they are blocking people from seeing listings, or maybe haven't listed anything at all, you can see from the profile that it hasn't ever sold anything, only ever bought, so not the sort of seller you want to buy anything of any value from.

He introduced himself and his reasons for selling on this post:

-+- Asmodeus Rising

The eBay auctions look to be US only.

Hello Mrs. Cleaver, Theodore.

Gee, Mrs. Cleaver ... That certainly is a lovely dress.

asmodeusrising666 - A little friendly advice.  Lower your starting prices.  They are way too high.  If you want to sell these items, you need to trust the auction format to obtain the prevailing market price.

Even your BIN prices are way high for some of the items, but that's your prerogative.  The Goodman Games DCC 3.5 signed module has never sold for close to what you are asking.  Realistically you are looking at a sale price of around $400-500 at the top end, maybe more if motivated people are bidding on it.  The other Goodman Games products you have listed are quite high as well.  They are probably worth about 25% of what you are asking.

If the purpose was to sell his products for the best possible price and at speed (ie without putting things in an eBay shop for a year or two), then he would have been much better served listing his items in a big list and posting that list in the Classified sections here and on Dragonsfoot. First come first served and you lower your priced and strike-thru items that have been sold each day or so.

And... they're gone.

I've done it that way a few times and its always served me well. I don't have to deal with eBay or their fees, and the buy/sell transaction occurs based on trust between the seller and the buyer. Admittedly he doesn't know any of the buyers, but then he doesn't know then on eBay either, so why hand more power to them? And whoever the buyer is here, I'm sure we'll find more than one person who's sold to them.

I can't see any of the listings because I'm not in the US, but from your advice, he seems to fall into the category of deluded newbie who shoots for just higher than the highest price ever recorded, which is in keeping with his eBay profile of never having sold anything before. And if he's not in any sort of RPG community and not a collector and selling stuff for someone else, he probably hasn't got a clue what he's got and how to realise the best return on it.

Which begs the question... What happens when eBay end the ability to research past sales priced? Do these sellers just add an extra $500 to be safe because eBay have severed the only tenuous link newbies have to reality?

Correctly assumed.

OK, so, I made a gmail email account, multiple ways of contact, registered on this forum post (which requires a moderator to approve,) just so I could spam? Nice try. Do I sound like I'm speaking Russian?

I think you might want to look a little closer at my ebay profile.Member since 2003. A+ ratings, across EVERY transaction, across a multitude of needs, especially gaming stuff.

Thank you swarmy, for pointing that out. Truly, I appreciate it.

Gentlemen, and Ladies of the Acaeum, we aren't talking about dinged corners. We aren't talking about scuffed pages. We are talking about 1 of a kind rares and uniques. Go look at that DCC auction again. Zoom in on the corners. Its one of the most pristine copies you guys are ever going to see again.

To address the issues regarding people not seeing listings, that is correct, they are posted only in the US...for now. I am still learning about the shipping process. I'm not gonna be dumb enough to not make sure its insured, wrapped, tracked, etc, and I'm gonna work, for the time being, with FedEx on that. My goal is to make sure this stuff gets sent out in a way that actually preserves the care and honor with which Phaedran held these items, and I'm not gonna risk a bad ding to an ebay record sending it out badly to a fellow collector. I got a little more sense than that.

Then don't buy them. It'll relist, and slowly and surely it'll sink down, but, who is gonna grab it first?

Even with the economy the way it is, I know you people have gold in your coffers. I've personally seen you bid 3 grand for dice. There was no Gencon this year, and I know those of you with existing shops have still been selling stuff.

If you think my prices are too high, then don't bid. Simple as that.

You know, it's weird. Every year, the last thing in that Auction Hall that is sold is the game that gets passed around, for people to teach a kid how to play a game. How to Pay It Forward.

I have created every conceivable way for you guys to contact me, and to let you get your hands on these *Artifacts," and so far, all I've gotten is distrust from a few of you.

Gary's Original Vision was for people to be creative, and it was aimed at kids. To have fun. To let their minds soar.

Too many of you have forgotten that, lost in the blind search for having it all.

If you don't wanna trust me, or bid, or talk to me, whatever. I don't care. I have enough on my plate to deal with.

I would suggest that you go back and look at that original post, and make your own choices, and decisions, and I'm gonna leave it at that.

To those who have offered words of help, or encouragement, I truly appreciate it.

Going to make a simple posting in the classifieds.

You know, when dbartman is offering advice, it is genuine and honest, and from someone who’s interested only in helping. He offered it humbly and without tone or malice, and he’s someone who has spent the last decade or more cataloguing and recording the price movements in the market for the board. He isn’t a sarcastic F like me and he’s not one to blow his own trumpet.

So I’ll apologise if I prompted your outburst at others.

And yes, it does come across as though you did just come to advertise your overpriced auctions. No-one else used the word spam, but if the shoe fits and you want to categorise your actions that way, then I am not going to argue. You know best.

Besides, how does selling stuff at extremely high prices for profit, in any way ‘pay it forward’ and honor Gary’s Original Vision for people to be creative and encourage kids to have fun? Your words, not mine. Seems to me like you’re profiteering and trying to put as much stuff out of the reach of children and players as you can. Stopping them from enjoyment of these products and stamping on the possibility of encouraging their creativity. By all means do as you will,  but hold off on the sanctimonious bulls!t.

How is the OP any different than post 0 from Blackmoor?  Reputation sure, but let’s pile in on the rules equally, yeah?

Not sure of your point on Blackmoor.  Blackmoor has been a member here since 2003, and he's well known and respected in the collecting community and on eBay.  Please explain the comparison.  I don't think there were any rules implied, only sincere suggestions to try to help out an Acaeum member that was new to selling on eBay.

Some people are cut a little more slack than others because they are founding members. Their collections, their willingness to share, and their participation in providing important information are the very foundations upon which this forum was built.

However, when a newbie turns up advertising stuff for sale, we point them to the Classified section. It was done politely. But if we don't do that we will end up with the main page of this forum flooded with 'spam' as you put it, and we don't want that.

To all:

I truly do appreciate the help and suggestions that are offered here. I appreciate the advice from people who know how to sell.

I will consider repricing things at some point, but for right now, I'm gonna just see what happens. There is more than enough to go around for the entire world.

I am not trying to break the rules of this forum, or where things should be posted, and I'm not trying to be a d*ck, to anyone. I just don't have time for games.

For the record: I am not trying to profit off of this collection. I am making a commission, but this job has been entrusted to me by the family, for Phaedran's daughter.

More going up soon. Pulled a Colossal Red Dragon out of the vault the other day, and say some RJK PP stuff.

Some of the characters you meet here are private members contained within foundational undergarments, & also kind of snobby.
