I heard on the piazza that Goodman games announced on twitch that they would be reprinting t1-4 and updating it to 5e as well

DriveThruRPG already reprints it, and at $19.50 right now, that's not a bad price.

Yes, but JasonZavoda mentioned that it will be updated to 5e.

Maybe they will even clean it up a bit to address some of the shortcomings of this epic adventure. That would be awesome.

Just my personal opinion:

5E has more of an OSR feel to it than 3/3.5 did. Therefore, I like it (Don't get me going on how I dislike 4e).

Now...Goodman Games is releasing old titles as reprints and also updating them to 5E. This gives me the nostalgia that I felt in the '80s when I played these titles for the first time.

If you dislike or nave no opinion on 5E, these titles are probably not worth your cash, unless you can't find a decent copy of the originals.

However, if you do like/enjoy 5E, they will save you from having to convert them yourself. In some cases, Goodman has added to the scenarios (they added a level to the ship in S3).

If you are open-minded or undecided about 5E, find someone who has a copy and ask if you can borrow it.

Their Original Adventures Reincarnated (OAR) line consists of:

OAR1: Into the Borderlands (a combination of B1 and B2)
OAR2: The Isle of Dread
OAR3: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks
OAR4: The Lost City (coming out soon)
OAR5: Castle Amber (due out later this year)

I'm hoping the above comments are true and they release T1-4 as part of their OAR line.

OAR6: Temple of Elemental Evil.

Per their CyclopsCon internet chat/virtual con/twitch discussion: Double book with slipcase edition.

Lots of updating - fully fleshed-out nodes, naming most of the NPCs, Nulb is going to get a fuller fleshing out, wilderness encounter tables, and lots of notes to make it "easier for the modern DM to just pick up and run."

Didn't watch the full stream, so I have no idea of the MSRP. The bulk of them are $49.99 USD, so I'm thinking $79.99?

Doesn't matter...I'm buying.

Yeah. I can't imagine any original author getting any love from Hasbro/Wizards these days.

Almost seems they forgot how they got here, with only third-party producers showing any gratitude and love for the "Old School."

It's a shame that "professional" companies revert to their 1970's child-like selves when a perceived threat to their purses come up.

For those with OAR1, 2, 3 or 4, are these "worth" getting at $50 a pop? That is, do you find the historical notes, extra material plus the 5E conversion meaningfully different from the original modules?

Apparently OAR6 will be a two volume set. I could see the reprint, fleshing out TOEE and including some missing text from T1 would be a strong add.

"Worth" is a relative term.
It makes me happy to read (and re-read) the adventures, so yes. it is worth it to me.
It may not be so for others. The interviews and extra material may make it worth it for others, or maybe even just the conversion itself.

And - my FLGS (Dragon's Lair in Wallingford, CT) sells them to me on pre-order at $39.99 each.
So....Bonus! Not spending as much money on stuff.

So why has WoTC let 3rd party publishers reprint what I consider "Core" D&D modules?

Wouldn't it be like printing money?

I have been running my children (and some other folks) through B2 in 5e so I picked up the Goodman book. I had just assumed there would be 5e stat blocks but there are not. Ultimately I found it easier to just use an old B2 I had and have the stat blocks hand written in a notebook ahead of time rather than fumbling with the Goodman book. So for me it was a waste of money.
