I just recently (finally) viewed Jon Peterson's video of 70's dice over at Playing at the World, and had a bit of fun discovering that I seem to have a couple of Zocchi's first gen die, and a few second generation as well I picked up from a bulk sale (off Craigslist as I recall).

I've been wondering for years about the origin of a D8 like that. People would tell me they also had dice like it, but did not know what the "A" meant.

Glad people like the video. It actually took a lot of research, more than a year of it, to get a sense of the sequencing of these, and to acquire some of the more obscure specimens. A lot of folks here on the Acaeum helped with this, in various direct and indirect ways, by letting me paw through their dice, or through stuff they sold to me, or by helping me get some of the few documents out there that actually provide hard dates and data about dice. I'm thinking folks like stratochamp, Collector's Trove, GameHole. And a lot of people listened to me ranting about it and helped clarify my thinking, like Bracton and kask and many others. It always takes a village, and the Acaeum is a great village.

Yeah, it look as though I have a couple of those as well.  

I was saddened when they shut the doors. I had just moved near the area (about a 15 minute drive) of their last location in the late 90's. All kinds of stuff there. If it wasn't in the storefront, they could check the warehouse. Better than just about any FLGS I have encountered.

In an ideal world, we'd have a "dice wiki" where we can record these things for posterity. I don't know if dice collecting is in the Acaeum scope, but I think this wouldn't be a bad place for it.

A subweb would be great for this.

Something along these lines could work, certainly. I made an account there (increment), why don't you make me an admin and I'll kick the tires on the interface.

Ideally, it would be great to crowdsource some data on these things - I think I've got a reasonable grasp on dice up to 1980, but there's a lot of stuff I don't know after that.
