A more accurate look at the market trend would be the average sale price over time of these same rare collectibles, which of course has been generally on the rise, too -- just not at the stratospheric rate that these "records" might imply.

Most of the influx of new players are barely buying any printed items at all.More likely is age. Some collectors are aging out and selling, and some others are aging into a peak income, and thus buying stage.
