Haven't heard anything from our fellow Acaeumites that went to Gen Con?  How was it?  Anything exciting come up during the auctions?

I was there with my family. While my wife took my kids to games and events, I was volunteering at the auction and occasionally hitting the dealer hall. Fellow acaeumite Boredflak did his usual great job pulling in over 25k during the charity auction. Chaosium & Raggi had limited edition items for sale. The last item for sale during the collector's auction was a box mailed by TSR in 1976, signed by Ernie, but now filled with fairly pristine Judges Guild items from 1976-1979. Harold Johnson sold his author and artist copies of his Lost Tamoanchan sequel. The Crystal Caste dice set at the auction were Velociraptor bone. Most people get to see much more of the con than I do, so hopefully others will report their experiences.

You can watch the top 10 items sold in the collector's auction on youtube.  The video was posted and I watched it last night.

This year's GENCON was great!

I played four rounds of Shadowrun (5E), two rounds of Pathfinder (1E), and one round of 5E D&D Arcanis (and Stratochamp's son Billy was playing the same event at the table next to me).

I tried two times, unsuccessfully, to enter and advance in the Terraforming Mars tournament.

Auction Finds:
     - 3 RPGA Slipcover Cases (I am up to... 35? I could use 5 or 6 more...)
     - Talisman City, 2nd Edition Expansion [This was BEAUTIFUL!!! And the contents inside were unpunched!!!]
     - A 6th Print White Box... cheap... someone else is going to end up with a play copy...

The only bad part of the con was the bed I slept in at the B&B I was staying at. It was already slept in by Papa Bear, Mama Bear, Baby Bear, and the Chicago Bears...

RPG’s, D&D in particular has had a major influence in my life. It’s bonded me together with life long friends...it’s that bond in life not just as friends, but in our jokes, our mannerisms, and what we find funny. Invincible Overlord

My wife and I made it again this year  :D

The auction was not to great but I still managed to pick up a few interesting items

Set of Polyhedron #1-132 missing only #9, in very nice condition at around $3.00 per magazine
A few Indiana Jones items was missing
Cyborg Commando box set and modules (modules in shrink and perfect, Boxset very nice)
Beyond the Stellar Empire PBM game with rules, notes, character sheets, hand written correspondence etc (Really cool item)
1st ed Space master rules boxset in shrink (hard to get, Nice Upgrade for my current set)
2nd ed space master Rules Master Screen and Armored Assault Boxset both in shrink
Chill Black Morn Manor boxset by Pacesetter (Last One I need to complete all of the Pacesetter Boxsets)

There was no real rare items at the convention that I can really recall, pretty tame year.

Overall not a bad convention, it is getting a little routine after 16 straight years.

Cheers
Jeff

What about the home-brew modules (?) you picked up?

Raggi has said elsewhere that these books will also be available at Spiel and Dragonmeet.
