How much does original shrink-wrap increase an item's value?

Hi everybody,

Had a question, so I thought I'd wander on by and ask it...

In general, how much does an item being in its original/factory shrink-wrap, increase that item's value? Does it typically double the value of, say, a 1st Edition/BECMI module? Or does it depend on the module in question? (I'm sure that, for example, a shrink-wrapped D&D Gazetteer would fetch a lot more money than a shrink-wrapped copy of N2 The Forest Oracle or some other unpopular/very common module...)

Thoughts, anyone?

Possibly 1.5-2X the NM value for SW, maybe more. SW is a wildcard.

"Wild Card" is spot on, however, I have noticed the shrink must have done its job and still be well intact. A tear in the shrink with noticeable wear on the module, a stain etc, largely erases the majority of the premium. I am not saying you cant try to get the same higher price, but the market seems to be small.

Usually 2x, but it really depends on the module. Common modules in the shrink can actually go for a lot because they might be fairly rare to have been kept in the shrink. On top of this, some of these common ones are the best modules TSR ever did, and so demand could well be high for them. Rarer modules were "often" left unopened and so the supply might be greater. The motivation of the buyer is also at least as varied as for normal collectibles. A B2 in shrink could make someone's day, while another wouldn't even want it. All this to say: it's a wildcard.

I am completely addicted to shrink wrap. For me it could be 2-10x depending on the item.
you know who to call if you have shrinked items to sell!!

If the shrink is perfect or near perfect it definitely increases the value tremendously. I just picked up X1 99.00 and X4 99.00 in perfect condition books and shrink... I considered this a decent enough price. Finding shrink wrapped items I want is very hard. At least 50% of the SW items I see are undesirable even though SW due to flaws in the SW which actually makes the module look "ugly".... and if it is flawed invariable the book is too. I also just scored a JG Tarantis Sealed perfect for 70 bucks.... At any given time there are only a few SW modules on ebay and of these maybe 1 might be something nice and worth the price.

I will say, I would prefer less than perfect shrink with an original price tag, old-era dime-store price tag, Toys-R-Us, Kay Bee etc, over a perfect shrink item with no price tag.
