In case anyone's interested, Scot Hoover (aka Kellri) proposed an 18 Day Module Challenge @
The 18 Day Module Challenge

Here's my Day 8 entry for today:  Day 8 - A Module Featuring Undead:  Angmar, Land of the Witch King by Heike Kubasch @ From Kuroth's Quill - grodog's AD&D blog: Kellri's 18 Module Challenge - Day 8: Angmar, Land of the Witch King

At the bottom, I have links to my previous entries from earlier days.

What are your favorites modules for each category? :D

Allan.

I assume Allan that the answer should be 18 different modules?

That's the way I'm doing it, Bill, but other folks are sometimes listing the same module across several categories, it seems.  So, really, whatever works for you :D

That said, while I'm not duplicating any of my 18 primary selections, I am overlapping in my Runner Ups here and there.

Allan.

When you mention angmar and Heike Kubasch it reminded me of the one time I actually played Rolemaster with the ice folks. Heike was snippy and dismissive of my 19 year old self, and really made the experience unpleasant. All of my dealings with Coleman Charlton on the other hand were wonderful. He gave me his direct number while we speaking at a gencon, and I would occasionally call him so he could answer a rules question. He was always polite and helpful.

And there is nothing a DM appreciates more than a player with the phone number of a game's designer, so the player can call for a review of the DM's decisions.   :P

Did that influence your appreciation of their writing, Bill?---I imagine it would turn me off if a designer I met was a jerk!

Hilarious, Mark! :D

Blogger ate my Day 15 post about The Court of Ardor (ICE, 1982), so I'll get that recreated over the weekend ;)

After losing Day 15 and Day 17, I threw in the towel on blogging about Scot Hoover's 18 Day Module Challenge.  Here are my final selections:

Day 15 - A Module I Like Based on a Book or Film:  Court of Ardor by Terry K. Amthor
Day 16 - My Favorite Gary Gygax Module: G3 Hall of the Fire Giant King by Gary Gygax @ From Kuroth's Quill - grodog's AD&D blog: Kellri's 18 Module Challenge - Day 16: G3 Hall of the Fire Giant King by Gary Gygax
Day 17 - A Module I'm Saving for the Right Time:  D3 Vault of the Drow by Gary Gygax
Day 18 - A Module from the Year I Began to Play:  there are no modules I've played from 1977 (and few published---Tegel Manor is the only one that readily came to mind), so I went with Outdoor Geomorphs Set One: Walled City by Gary Gygax

I planned several follow-one posts that tied back to my various Runners Up selections, and a few additional categories that came to mind as variations on some of Scot's themes.

My thanks to Kellri for putting the challenge together :D

Allan.
