This will be my first GenCon in at least a decade. When I used to go, there was always a certain time (friday evening?) where the D&D stuff was auctioned. Is that still a thing? If so, what time?

Yes, there is a fantastic collectibles auction on Friday night.  Frank (ex tsr) is the auctioneer and he or others can certainly fill in the details better than I.

I believe it usually starts around 8:00pm but it may be later.  They are also auctioning thousands of non super rare D&D items throughout the convention Thursday-Saturday.   You need to check the schedule posted on the auction room everyday to find out what is selling when.

There is also a auction store that you can find some nice gems in as well.  This is open everyday from 9:00am-11:00pm.

On a side note, I will be bringing a woodgrain set to the auction so please everyone show up and bid with reckless abandon!! :D

Hey Andy,

It's a 2nd printing, decent condition, but not mint.

Whereabouts are they holding the auction?  How do I find it?  Thanks in advance :)

Also, any tips on show specials or must-haves being released?

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

The Auction is held just north of the vendor hall. If you enter off Capital across from Georgia St.(where the food truck and beer hall is located) it is just past the food court on the right side of the hallway.

The only items that I know of are the LotFP items which will sell out at the con.

Available now from Die Cast Games: Night of the Black Swords by Allen Hammack (Author of C2-The Ghost Tower of Inverness) with artwork by Jeff Easley and Diesel.

We stayed for the first auctioneer shift.

Settlers of Catan 3D sold for 1000
RPGA miniatures slipcases, 3 of them, went for 350/500, the 500 was earmarked for the charity
A couple AH Dunes sold for more than I expected, around 170
Harold Johnsons personal items, modules in shrink, around 40-80 each
A nice fighting wheel, 175
Gamelords collection in a binder, 120.  I was the underbidder, I'm kinda regretting missing
Gamer small t-shirts, autographed by Elmore

There was a 2nd brown box in the cabinet with a reserve of 2300. Idk if it sold. Also a Docs Island

Some nice Dragons, some with mailing covers, they would have sold after we left. Oh a taped-up Dragon number one went for 150.

Plenty of war games and boardgames too, nothing that stands out to me.

Thanks Burntwires for the directions!

Hi Dave,

Why didn't you come over and say hi? Lord knows I wasn't hard to find with the auction staff giving me grief so frequently..."Here is a module graded by Bill where he has written it's in fine (minus) condition. Which is near mint to anyone else!"

I should have, you were running around a bit and it was nice to sit for a spell. I hope the con was good for you!

Probably a long shot, Chaosium had a leather Runequest rulebook that sold out in minutes. Did anyone get a spare?  Did anyone get one?

- The 2 Dragons w/covers sold for $60 and $30 each... and I have them...  *sigh*

I need issues #27 and #28, not #25 and #26...

- The brown box sold for $2300 (proxy bid).

- I think that Doc's Island sold for over $400...

- The RPGA case were not the slipcover cases. They were miniatures cases (which seem ultra-rare...).

And I spent too much...

Yes, my wife picked one up for me, along with the Gods of Glorantha preview (60 copies). The Runequest book has 20 numbered copies.

Andy is not mentioning that he picked up a Gorgonstar Titan with Battlelands AND the extra two McCallister supplements for (about) $350. That was a sweet deal!

This was my friend Bill's. We sold that along w his Polyhedrons and did pretty well (especially the #1-5 lot).

Jason McAllister put out three (?) supplements around 2013 (the original copyright of 2008 was blacked out). The two I received were called Skylands of Titan, and the other was Elder Gods of Titan. Basically they expand the board by one rank in each direction, and provide counters for Gods, Archangels, and a few other heavy hitters.

I had no idea that the expansions were released that late. The Badlands expansion was the only one I was aware of (which came in both sets I have...).

That's good news, Andy, and I hadn't heard of them before either (other than Badlands, which is also in my Gorgonstar sets).  Can you please shoot and post some pics sometime?  I'd love to see what they look like!

Allan.
