Just picked up a 6th printing PHB in really nice condition (the corners are even still sharp), except for just one imperfection. The original owner had a novel way of adding their name—marker in the yellow banner on the cover.

Anyone have experience trying to restore something like this?

Considering dry eraser or WD-40 to see if it will come off (two know marker fixes). But do not want to cause damage.

You may want to try Magic Eraser or a solution of Rubbing Alcohol diluted with water. You'll want to have a real light touch though and be aware if you are taking off too much.

Personally though I'd leave it as it is. Good luck though on whatever you decide to do.
