After reading the thread this message was in, I became curious about these authorized reprints.  I received the shipment today.....

It appears the pdf is of a first print.  Looks like the map had some yellow highlighting on it, lol.  There was a sale going on so the cost was only $8 and free shipping.  I also bought the S1-S4 reprint and A0-A4 reprint (which would be a reprint of a reprint!).

Caveat emptor.

Per a previous thread, if certain ebayers were selling this they would  expect to be fucked from a height!!
(On the other hand I am seriously considering a few of these as reading copies).

You can never have too much of something you didn't need in the first place.

Are POD copies easy to tell from original copies?

Examining it in person, yes.  The glossy cover is the first giveaway.  Viewing pictures online is a bit more difficult.  Especially if the seller doesn't post multiple photos.

The PoDs of the detachable cover mods are all perfect bound (there might be a couple saddle-stitched) - that's a dead giveaway. Some of the PoDs are awful scans, e.g. my Pod of D2 has a highlighted, stained and written on cover map.

The PoDs are great for table play, to preserve your originals.  But they aren't great and hard to use (perfect binding for a shortish book).  I've bought a few but stopped buying them because the scans were bad.
