Yes. Part of the attraction of a box set is the three-dimensionality of it!
rpg books are all pretty fine but a box set is boss! It displays well and looks cool. as noted key points are:
(1) Honesty, if you are going to trade or sell it.
(2) Care and craft. There are some good youtube videos out there to get you started, but nothing teaches you what to do, and what not to do, than having a go yourself (ideally on a none-too-valuable item). It is fun and also you engage with your collectible.
I ended up doing this to a 2nd print
woodgrain. The box was basically flat but the books were in really quite good condition. By repairing it you got the whole set back again. I sold it about a year or so ago (with full disclosure!) and I think the buyer got a good set. I used top quality archival craft glue and the corners ended up pretty solid and sturdy.
