Hello Everyone (esp. Smarmy),

I thought that this might deserve its own discussion thread if this proves to be a hybrid DMG. I'm sure that Smarmy

Vintage Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Masters Guide AD & D TSR Book  | eBay

It appears to be a hybrid First / Second Alpha based upon the MM pages and the "D" of "Advanced" running off the edge.

If the person who won is a member here, please let us know more details about this anomaly once you receive it.

Thank you - Paul

As one who owns a nice shape first print, and who owned both versions of the 2nd print, before I traded my Alpha print for a nice wood grain box of OD&D, I will say that this is an anomaly and I too would like to see the pics about this as this appears to be a 1st print hardback with 2nd Alpha print characteristics and as such marks this book as a sure anomaly.... Wow, wish I would have seen this on ebay and would have bid, but wait,  Gamehole last weekend and gaming this weekend, and well, that's the drill... I too wish to know about the outcome of said book.

The link appears to be blocked when I look at the site.  I am curious to see what was found. :)

HI Smarmy,

Are you able to pull up the eBay listing? If not, I can take a screen shot of the listing and send you pics of the DMG.

Thank you - Paul

Hi Paul,

I am able to see the listing now.  Pretty cool.  I wasn't the winner, but I think the winner is a member here.  Will be interesting to see some more details.

Just bumping this thread to see if anyone here acquired the hypothetical "First / Second Alpha - Hybrid DMG".
I made a bid on this and was third in the list, so would really love to know what the outcome was.

Thank you - Paul

Not sure who here saw this gem listed on eBay, but I saw the question asked and took a shot ... alas, no such luck.

We were the winners. The book was only a 1st print which was sent back for a full refund. I assume he looked in the monster manual when he answered Grodog's question.

I appreciate the update ... I also just finished reading the thread on the Bill Hoyt Woodgrain (did not want to use the word "Woody" there)

A fascinating piece of history and congrats to all who pieced it together.

Thank you - Paul
