I know it's 3.5e material, but Arnaud mentioned that his copy of "Races of Eberron" has a separate booklet inside called "The Dreaming Dark Book I: The City of Towers" Simpering pointed out that this same book is available on Amazon and appears to be a separate novel, so I'm trying to determine whether or not the book was included with "Races of Eberron" or if it was added later before Arnaud purchased his copy?

I have a copy of Races of Eberron, but my copy didn't come with the booklet you're talking about.  The Dreaming Dark trilogy is a trilogy of novels by Keith Baker (a fairly fun read in my opinion).  Perhaps Arnaud's copy of Races of Eberron included a promotional sample chapter of The City of Towers.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I'll post pics that Arnaud sent me.

From the pics you posted - that's definitely a sample chapter(s) of the novel.  I bought my copy of Races of Eberron new, and mine didn't have that - I have to assume that later (or earlier) print runs either had them attached to the spine, or the retailer inserted it as advertising.

Hmmm.... And, with no way of distinguishing print runs in 3.5e, I'll just have to include a caveat in the notes that *some* versions included a sample of the book as a booklet inserted in the back.

Mine includes it as well, right after the survey form at the back of the book.  It's a 20-page sample that's attached to the flyleaf.  I pretty much bought all 3rd edition stuff straight out of the shipping box the day it released (I was working at a game store during that time period).  Early copies probably all included the promo, later ones didn't.  I don't think there was ever a second print on this particular book.

Ok. Updated database and spreadsheet with the information. Thanks for the heads up Arnaud and thanks for the information all!
