Hello all, since no topic was started yet, I figured I would.  Hotel and badge purchased for Gary Con IX, March 23-26 2017.  So who's going?  Who will wear their Acaeum badge with honor like I will?  Who will wear their Manowar shirts... oh wait.  Anyways, hope to see many of you at Gary Con.  It's a fun time, 4th time for me, longer for many of you others I suspect.  Either way, let's represent the Acaeum!

I'll be there, with my two sons.  Hope to spend even more money at the burntwire brothers booth!

I plan to run a few events (below) using the Jeff Talanian's Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea (AS&SH) rules/setting. Days and times still TBD, but I'll probably run Corpse Creek twice or three times, Crystal Point once and Foolsgrave once.


The Strange Tale of Crystal Point - In the far reaches of Hyperborea's Crab Archipelago, lies a small, mountainous island known as Crystal Point. Passing sailors have recently seen a crimson glow in Crystal Point's waters, beams of reddish-brown light shining up from its steep cliffs and unusually frequent lightning storms. Ariston Thalassa, an Atlantean sage in Khromarium, Hyperborea's largest city, has heard these strange tales and approached your party with a promising explanation. He believes Crystal Point may hold the ruins of a lost Atlantean colony - and its secrets! Eager for adventure and treasure, you agreed to explore the island and, after a long journey, have finally set foot on its rocky beach. A site-based adventure for 4-6 player characters of levels 7-9.

Hey, guys! Long time, no read.

I was wondering: does GaryCon allow people, not businesses, to get a table and sell?

Unfortunately, I have to trim down my collection substantially. I have one kid in Vet School, one kid in college, and one going to college in two years. Having thousands of $$ sitting on a shelf makes no sense at this time. The time has come.

I have had incredible fun in the past few years connecting back to my childhood and teen years through a collection that started small but has grown considerably. It also allowed me to become a member on this community, through which I have met soul brothers in our unique hobby.

Selling at the con would allow me maximum exposure with almost no prep work. I would sell here, but I have no time to take photos or classify my collection. I'm not sure but a table at the con should cost about the same as those pesky ebay fees and other costs on sales. And I don't necessarily have to stay...I can drive to the con every day.

I would appreciate your feedback.

The new location has more space in general, but the dealer room seemed pretty full, still.

Pretty sure people have and still do split tables.  So, depending on how much you intend to break out, you might consider that.

I could share...my collection fits into about a dozen plastic tubs and maybe two or three odd shapes (like framed art).

You might also talk with Shawn and Devon (burntwire brothers) to see if they have room at their Die Cast Games booth (they sell used games most years at the show).  NobleKnight may also be there this year, which may give you a one-stop drop point to sell it all, but you won't make as much money of course.

Thank you for the suggestion. I already put in an email to the Gary Con people to see if they are willing to rent me a table. If not, that is a possibility I could explore. I met Shawn and Devon personally at last year's Gary Con.

In this Dead Games Society (http://dgsociety.net) event, fight off xenomorphs and escape the Weyland-Yutani terraforming colony, Hadley's Hope, on the moon LV-426 (Acheron) as a Colonial Marine from one of the greatest action and science fiction movies of all time: Aliens! This miniatures event includes three of the original scenarios (Reactor Room, Operations and Air Ducts) and the Dropship mini-scenario from the classic Leading Edge's Aliens! This Time It's War rules. I've also added some expansion and custom rules, such as trackers, flame walls, grenades and the ability to change weapons in any scenario. All of the original Leading Edge Aliens miniatures and models applicable to these scenarios will be provided and used. No experience is necessary.

Bram Stoker's Dracula lets you play the part of Harker, Seward, Holmwood, Quincey or Professor Van Helsing in their struggle against the majestic Count Dracula and his legions. The original rules and all of the miniatures produced for this board game will be used, but the original board is boring, so I decided to make a better one and have transformed it into a 4ft x 6ft map of Europe with each level based on a part of the the novel/film in terms of order, locations and enemies. This event will be played at the TSR Games tables and no experience is necessary!

Play one or more Viking characters and the Arab poet, Ahmed ibn Fahdlan, from Michael Crichton's novel Eaters of the Dead and John McTiernan's classic film The 13th Warrior. This original, Dungeons & Dragons miniatures adventure includes three stages (The Watch, Fire Wyrm, Thunder Cliffs) and explores the different combat systems presented in the original D&D and Chainmail rules (Stage 1: Chainmail/Man-to-Man, Stage 2: Chainmail with Fantasy Supplement, Stage 3: D&D Alternative combat system). Characters, models and miniatures will be provided. This event will be played at the TSR Games tables and no experience is required!

CONAN THE DESPOT (85th ANNIVERSARY) • DUNGEONS DEEP RPG (DUNGEONS DEEP DESIGNS)

A savage foreigner has usurped King Numedides, strangling him to death on his own throne. Though some Aquilonians welcomed the barbarian as a liberator, most see him as a red-handed assassin, including the Rebel Four, who are strategizing their own coup d'etat. This Dungeons Deep miniatures event recounts the events of the first Conan story, "The Phoenix on the Sword". Play as Volmana, the dwarfish Count of Karaban or Gromel, the stubborn, giant Bossonian commander of the Black Legion or Ascalante, the former Count of Thune or Thoth-Amon, the Stygian sorcerer-in-hiding, and coordinate your efforts to remove Conan of Cimmeria from the throne of Aquilonia. Miniatures and models will be provided. No experience is necessary.

CONAN THE BARBARIAN (35th ANNIVERSARY) • DUNGEONS DEEP RPG (DUNGEONS DEEP DESIGNS)

The Hyborean age was a time of high adventure. In the land of Zamora, a wild-eyed barbarian seeks revenge on the Cult of Set for the murder of his parents and other fellow Cimmerian villagers. Can you overcome the perils of the Temple of Set and the Mountain of Power, to bring an end to Thulsa Doom's reign? Play as Conan, Subotai and Valeria in rotating fashion through three stages (Temple of Set, Mountain of Power, Standing Stones) that recount the major events of John Milius' classic 1982 movie, Conan the Barbarian, on the 35th anniversary of the film's release. This event uses Dungeons Deep RPG rules. Miniatures and models will be provided. No experience is necessary, but some of the miniatures for this event are a bit risqué, so participants must be 18 years of age or older to participate.

LIKE A BOSS MONSTER • BOSS MONSTER DUNGEON BUILDING CARD GAME (BROTHERWISE GAMES)
Sunday, March 26, 2017, NOON - 2PM
Play a monster building a dungeon to combat meddling adventurers who come to steal your treasure! Original Boss Monster rules with additional bosses from Boss Monster 2: the Next Level will be taught/used for the first hour, along with Crash Landing to allow for extra players. We'll then add in the Tools of Hero Kind and Paper & Pixels expansions in the second hour. This event will be played at the TSR Games tables and no experience is required! Join in on the 8 bit fun!

DRINKERS OF THE DEAD (21+) • DUNGEONS & DRAGONS OE (TSR)
Sunday, March 26, 2017, 2PM - 7PM

Awesome! I plan to run this like Mythmere runs his Mythrus Tower, persistent betwen conventions (well, Gary Con and NTRPG Con at least) and years. So, this year's Gary Con crew will be the first explorers - a chance to become legendary!
