Wow - why would he/she even care??  Price the item accordingly and see what you get... simple.  I'm fairly certain that a reseller won't drive the cost up unreasonably against a standard consumer (based on the simple fact that the reseller would have to turn around a sell it for a profit).

I'm admittedly not the most active collector out there, but to me this tactic doesn't seem very smart.  Re-sellers are a big part of this market, and they are often times the ones who have the ready cash available to pay top dollar for rarer items.  Do you really want to shut those guys out of your auctions?

Homer: Lisa, a guy who's got lots of ivory is less likely to hurt Stampy than a guy whose ivory supplies are low.

I advised him of the idiocy of putting such a statement in a listing. If he doesn't like resellers, tough cookies. Don't sell on eBay.
