They are extremely rare, and there haven't been many come up for sale in recent years.  Add in the fact that this is Jeff Leason's personal copy and you have a volatile mixture.

I was bidding on it for awhile, also on the OB3, but left my current budget a few days ago......too many other hard to find or rare items have killed my buying power this month, and even if not, never would have gone this high!!   Be a nice item to add to the collection though

This seems high for a catalog, even allowing for it coming from the collection of Kevin Hendryx and a Collector's Trove auction. These black-covered catalogs are Uncommon but not Rare. I have one.

That one is the most puzzling to me, especially with the three bids stacked on top. Not only was the winner concerned the auction would go much higher, but multiple people thought it was worth more than a hundred or even a couple hundred. I didn't see anything in the listing which mentioned anything out of the ordinary. Was there some behind the scenes emails or people who viewed it that said there was something different about it?

So what was so special about the last catalog that was worth a grand or even $600 compared to this one (probably more valuable because of Leason's ties to being part of creating it)?
Enquiring minds would like to know!

Yeah, I suppose so. Did Leason ever say why these initial ones were printed in black?
