I couldn't really find a WoM discussion... just picked one up (Thanks Faro!) and had a question and a couple comments.
Gary writes in the into it's the first set of rules published by TSR. The intro is signed July 1974 which is later than the publication info for the first D&D sets. Just wondering if that's been sorted out?
I was surprised to see all the early
rpg elements. Miniatures rules yes. But also levels, man-to-man combat, experience point awards. Even advice to a neutral referee to run an adventure in the martian labyrinths. ("First, re-read all eleven books",
lol)
I was also really pleased to see all the original Greg Bell artwork. No chance they were "inspired" from comic books. Very cool stuff.
I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.
