I found one old post about getting RPG collections insured. It left me wanting more information. More actual cases of collectors on here insuring their collections.

Homeowners insurance does have some coverage for collectibles but it is extremely low. $5000 I think for my Nationwide Policy. Maybe less.

I called my agent once and he said I would need to get an appraisal. I read that in the other post as well in the sticky on the FAQ questions. Like others there aren't many appraisers if any here where I live who could even begin to appraise my meager collection

So my question is this...how many of the 'bigger' collecters have their collections insured? Surely you guys/gals don't have collections worth thousands, tens of thousands of $$$ uninsured??

for the best results on insurance - photograph and catalogue your inventory (collection) - how ever getting it insured will cost money - which is dependent on your value and what the actual "street" value is assessed as...

I tried to get my inventory valued by "professionals" that the insurance wanted to use.. and they came back with £1.9k per annum - if I installed alarms and fire proofing measures otherwise it was starting from £4k+....

This would only increase with each item I added to the inventory, and that is a lot of work to do.. make a comprehensive list with photos documentation on where when how much purchased etc..

House insurance might cover some of the items but each household insurance is unique with clauses and what if statements etc.. loop holes of will not pay out, check with contents insurance see what they cover.

If anyone has come across any company in the United Kingdom that does cover collections and recommend them - let me know I am interested...

So do I. Easy to deal with on renewals and moving and such. Happily never had to file a claim, so I can't speak to how good they are at handling those.

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

I use Hiscox and arranged separate coverage of my collection as part of my home insurance. They needed some details (number of items, overall replacement costs, significant items over a certain amount), but otherwise they seemed relaxed (they also cover stamp/book/comic collections). Not too expensive. â€¦ Luckily I haven't had to claim either (fingers crossed)!

I was able to put a rider on my homeowner's insurance for my D&D items.

However as I continue to build on my collection (and its value), I may need to change things up...

Mine is covered under my Homeowner's Insurance Policy with State Farm.

Not including shipping, to replace my modest RPG, miniatures, and wargames collection at current market value, that would be $17,124.

A complete inventory is provided for my insurance company once a year, and this figure here does not include my library of dead tree books, as well as computer and video games.

I shot these folks an email with what I thought were some basic questions.... they never responded.

Required documentation for the collection, appraisal requirements, claims process, and details on the last few years of claim approvals and denials...
