A little off topic here...

I know some of us use space on the Acaeum server, and I don't imagine I'm the only one who's e-mails are routed through the Acaeum server. I just wondered if the mail server has been down since last night today? Or is it just me?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I'm currently battling a host of server issues.  Stay tuned.

OK, I think I have most of the issues ironed out.  Let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary.

For our mail users: the mail system has switched over to require SSL.  (I actually switched it over about two years ago, but now the server is enforcing it).  I use Thunderbird, so your mail settings in another program (Outlook, etc) may be slightly different:

Incoming mail:

Server name:  www.acaeum.com
Port:  993
username:  (your Acaeum email acct name; not your forum username) + (plus sign) acaeum.com
for example, if your username is "ihdres", the username field should read "ihdres+acaeum.com"

Security settings:

Connection security:  SSL/TLS
Authentication method:  Normal password

Outgoing (SMTP) mail:

Server name:  acaeum.com
Port: 587
Username: same style as above
Authentication method:  Normal password
Connection security:  STARTTLS

Please give this a try and report successes / failures.  Thank you!

Ian---

I had emailed some selling thoughts to you vs posting in your other thread. Did they come through now?

Allan.

Still no access to e-mail account, but I can log onto the server and view the e-mail account via webmail.
So does that mean it is an issue at this end, and not a mail server issue?
I'm using Outlook 2010.

Well, it's not a server issue -- the server's fine, and all your e-mail is there -- it's just a problem in getting the right configuration for Outlook.

Can you e-mail me some screenshots of your Outlook config screen?

Mail server hasn't been accessible for a while. Is it gone for good?

It's around, but the connection details have changed.  Contact me via PM.
